Winnipeg Hotel would make a great Drake Hotel type place....I really hope this will create some momentum on main street.

If the Fortune Block and its neighbour are turned around, then that would provide a pretty strong argument for doing something to the Winnipeg Hotel which is really the only vaguely skid row-like establishment left around there, as the Windsor and Garrick have kind of gone hipster over the last few years and lost a lot of the hard drinking, hard living crowd. There would be a pretty decent upside for someone to buy the Winnipeg Hotel and convert it into something more upmarket.

As many are hoping for, I'd like to see these buildings preserved/restored...I still miss the Blue Note Cafe on this strip of Main St...... (It sucked at it's Portage Ave location..No atmosphere)..

But being realistic, I hope for the preservation of the facade at best. ( I hope Pollard has deep pockets) ..

If it goes through, this should help make the Scott Block apartments seem more desirable.

Still a lot of work to be done there before apartments are ready. Although the Scott Block will be ready to go long before Fortune Block is redeveloped, so if anything the Scott Block will help the Fortune Block seem more desirable!

For sure you're right about the timeline, but I would never live on that block of Main in its current state, and I'm a progressive, bigger 24 year old man.

Work on the Scott Block should start happening in the later half of this year.

I don't think I've seen the Titanic described as a "famous cruise ship" before.

Yeah, not sure that term works with respect to that era of passenger liners.

Wow. How did this 98 market building slide under the radar.

Great to fill that landlocked parking lot. I never thought that would happen.

Wow! Love almost everything about it, except that cheesy-looking rendering. Is that vinyl siding? 6 stories of rental apartments with main floor commercial space. Hopefully the 26 outdoor parking spaces will be out of sight.

Now we just need to work on that football field in front of your office.

Excellent filler project that will help to build a critical mass of residents in the area. Also great to see rental spaces as not everyone who is interested in living in the Exchange necessarily has the means to buy a condo.

The best part is that it's going up on a tucked away surface parking lot, the kind where you'd never really expect to see any sort of meaningful development... it'll bring a little more urbanity to one of the city's most urban neighbourhoods.

The design of the building is not bad, at the very least it doesn't clash with its surroundings. I like the homage to vintage warehouse signage up at the top! Anyone know who the architect is?

It's hard to tell the position of the building on the lot from that rendering. I presume that single storey building off to the side of this lot will stay?

This will also really fan the fires of the new subsidized parkade on James. That is a lot of parking spots gone. I imagine Qualico is going to be losing their minds right about now.
