So once they roll these out, are the original C-train cars done for good?
This article (http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/calgary/Calgary+Transit+cars+200M/8898525/story.html) is a bit old, but says 25 of the 60 are devoted to fleet replacement (35 for expansion).

This (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CTrain#Rolling_stock) says that 27 of the U2's were from the initial order for the south line, which probably matches up with the 25 to be replaced once you consider written-off cars. Many additional U2's came later with the NE and NW lines.

Just a short update, car 2401 is at customs and should arrive in Calgary on January 16th. Also, I had some time over the holidays to reorganize the Calgary series 9 pages and add more pictures. Navigation should be a bit easier as well.

Why did they cheap out and not continue the livery to the bottom of the cars? The gold looks super cheap. It should be a continuation of the red and white swoop pattern.

Even white, red, or black would look better than the beige.

What you see in the pics is what the car looked like in the middle of October. When it finally gets here, the livery should match the rest of the fleet - series 5, 6, 7, and 8. I prefer the mostly white color scheme of the concept drawings as I think there is too much red on the front part of the roof and that's why I refer to these as the Little Red Riding Hood trains.

Five months late but car 2401 had finally arrived in Calgary on Wednesday and was offloaded this morning at Haysboro siding. It's going to be kept under wraps until it gets moved to Anderson garage later today.

I saw a tweet where someone said they saw the car being unloaded. Even the CT Twitter account didn't know about it!

So they kept the livery with the beige on the underside. How disappointing and shitty looking. The cars look nice anyways, but why not just complete the livery? Seems like a needlessly cut corner.

Huh? I'm pretty sure they did complete it! The coloration is more of a grey, which is in line with the livery that exists out there currently. You'll notice the red swoop extends beyond the high floor line, and passes below it towards the middle of the car.

The picture we saw before didn't have the completed red swoop. And was more gold in coloration.

Doesn't look much different on the bottom to the current vehicles?

Guys, does it really matter? Within a month they will have an enormous advertisement plastered on the side of it, covering the train from top to bottom, and it will look like shit anyways.

Actually looks pretty sleek to me, plenty better than the pictures from the plant. The green LED door frames look really cool too

I thought "BEST IN CLASS TOWING" was Calgary Transit's motto?

For a while I thought that too, but that doesn't make sense if every damn C-Train in the fleet carries the orange Shock Top livery.

Honestly though, I hate those full-body advertisements. For one, they are supremely ugly and at times jarring. For two, it is nearly impossible to enjoy any kind of view from the window during dark winter commutes when it's covered in the advertisement sticker. Might as well be in a tunnel when you ride on those trains.

I would love to know how much fares would need to go up if all transit full wrap advertising was eliminated.
