I agree I would have rather them had 2 different height canopy's then a big open back like that. just looks silly IMO they should rip that press box out and build an entirely new one the length of the stands. it would add room for a few seats this way as well. If they dont need that big of press box they can turn the extra into clubs or lounges or suites or what have you. this would never happen considering the cost but it would have really rounded out the look of bmo and created a pretty big asset for grey cups and outdoor NHL games ect.

The plans for Commonwealth in Edmonton were taken directly from Arrowhead in Kansas City.

Nice update - thx for sharing Frankie. I hope its not a one year wonder and that the people of TO will come out and make the Argos somewhat relevant again.

No one under 40 in the City of Toronto cares about the Argos.
The suburbs are a little better. I doubt there will be much fanfare after 2016.
You barely see any Argos paraphernalia and no one talks about them in my age group.
P.S. I am 33 and have lived in the city my entire adult life.

I think that MLSE offically takes over the Argos on Jan 1st 2016. You will likely see Argo gear in their stores shortly there after. Nothing like a marketing budget (which the Argos haven't had for 2 years) to raise the profile.

Says the social science researcher.

Now, according to objective emprical research, as opposed to your subjective anecdotes:

P.S. The population is aging and your age group is shrinking, not growing.

This doesn't change what I am saying that the Argos are irrelevant to my age group in the City.

Also a sample size of 600 for a city of 2.5 million is extremely small and could be easily be bias. For example did they get peoples opinion by phone, in person or through the internet.
It is well known that older people are more likely to have the patience to sit through a survey call than younger people. The in person surveys are much more reliable.

"• Random digit dialling is no longer representative. Phone surveys with automated random digit dialling are no longer representative of the US population, as landline telephones now skew to older respondents. From the 1950s to the 1990s randomly composing a phone number and calling it provided a true probability sample of the US population. But, thanks again to those cord cutters, that Golden Age has ended."

http://www.research-live.com/features/do-telephone-surveys-have-a-future?/4000692.article

If I was a surveyor and I knew of this bias and I wanted a older demographic I could easily skew the results to an older populace.

600 survey participants is good for a margin of error around 4%; population size isn't a factor.

What's your source for this? Since Arrowhead has three decks and full end zone seating, and Commonwealth has two decks with single-deck seating in one end zone it seems unlikely.

Experiencing the atmosphere created by people who are more interested in cheering on their team than craft beer and fancy fusion poutines.

Is your social group larger than 600 people and any less prone to bias?

I have some buddies who live in Dallas and they say with the Stars new owner, his marketing budget for the team has done wonders. I guess the team has billboards all over the greater Dallas area and this has led to sold out crowds this season, which have been few and far between the past few seasons. It also helps that the team is winning too but this is a case where marketing can make a difference.

The Argos need to do this as well. This is the perfect time to right this ship again and make the team relevant. The Leafs suck, I don't know if the Blue Jays are as good as they were last season this upcoming season and the Argos have a pretty solid team still. Time to sell the public on them and get people interested. Give up on the NFL dream Toronto. It isn't happening!

I think you're missing the point. Him and his friends don't like the CFL, therefor it has no relevance in Toronto

Let's not forgot only 5 years ago BMO couldn't handle the Argos. How anyone isn't impressed with the Argos attendance over the last 5 years when they have practically been abandoned from a marketing/ownership standpoint is beyond me. It was bound to break eventually and we seen it on the lame duck season

Just to add some context...obviously interest in the CFL is different in different areas of the country. I live in London and Toronto draws a lot of people from London to Maple Leafs, Raptors & TFC games. In fact I am going with my 2 sons to see the Raptors on Friday. Yet, I don't know of anyone in London that drives to Toronto or Hamilton to see a CFL game. I've never heard a friend say "let's go see a CFL game" and especially young people don't have interest in CFL. There are just too many options for pro sports and entertainment here. If I want to watch pro football, I can go to Detroit or Buffalo.

Not trying to put down the CFL at all, but there is honestly not a lot of interest in CFL. Will that change with moving to BMO? I don't think so.

Maybe theres not a lot of interest in london. But to say theres not a lot of interst in the cfl is incorrect. Im 26 and live in hamilton and I know dozens of 20 something who attend multiple ticats games every calendar year. It is the hot ticket in town. Head to a ticats game, have a few beers then hit the downtown bars.

Whats different between the nfl and cfl is that if there is no cfl team in town, you will find very few cfl fans. But if theres no nfl team in town, you will still find tons of nfl fans despite the fact that many have never even seen their team play in person.

Being in hamilton im lucky and am able to have seasons tickets to my two favourite teams in both the nfl and cfl, the bills and ticats.

You don't see the point though here though. The question is can the Argos get back to 25K a game, not...Can the Argos be the hottest ticket in town. The Bills,TFC,Raps,Leafs, Jays were all around in 2012 when the Argos were drawing 95% of bmo's capacity. You guys act like this is a Team that has never had a fan base and is trying to gain one. Completely ignoring the fact that this team is sustainable at 24k. I don't care what market/team were talking about You abandon a team on a marketing standpoint it will fail. I get so fired up listening to this insecure Bullsh*t about the Argos. Like it's friggen impossible to turn around a franchise that clearly has a fanbase. Why is everyone else in this country trying to convince Ontario that the Argo situation is going from zero to hero? You're going from the rogers centre to BMO, Brailey to MLSE (sort of) they have 10,000 commitments already and haven't even opened up shop!!! If in 2018-19 The argos are drawing 18K than ill admit i was wrong but untill then honestly STFU It's pretty obvious to me the rest of the f*cking country knows more about your own sports landscape than you do!

TV rating's/Polls/5-10 years attendance history VS your personal opinion...The gold standard in sport economics.

I'm gonna post this again take a hard look. 3 unacceptable years at bmo

Tough to experience any atmosphere when you're stuck in a lineup for the better part of a quarter. And when did I say I wanted craft beer and poutine? All I want is a decent fan experience which is something McMahon can't provide. It is an outdated piece of shit.

I'm guessing you will be delighted to see this article from the Herald this morning: http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-news...in-west-village-wont-balance-says-nenshi

Doesn't really matter what I (or others) think - we'll be stuck with a high school stadium for a long time yet.

Maybe you are missing my point. I said that Toronto teams draw a lot of fans from LONDON, yet I don't know of anyone in LONDON that drives down for CFL games. Yep, this is my experience, not a scientific poll.

I do see how Hamilton can draw decent crowds - they will never get a pro football team and it's highly unlikely it will ever get another "pro" team. Its teh same reason why London's OHL team sells out 9,100 people 12 years in a row because we have no legit shot at an NHL team. Hamilton is content with CFL as they will never get a NFL team, but Toronto is totally different. They have a legit shot at an NFL team and overall are not that interested in a second rate league.
