The office phase will not be able to go ahead until a certain amount of residential density is achieved. Maybe some of the fear comes from the second phase where the market sits now (and where about half the residential yield is), the City wants to ensure there is a firm timeframe attached to its redevelopment or the land will go back to the City, In which case the City would then seek another developer to build.
Glad to hear you're on it Wooster, and that there are tools in place to hold them accountable.

I'd be surprised if they were only interested in an office tower given the current climate. I'd be questioning if these guys are for real if phase 1 doesn't get going this year though. Almost every parcel of land has a proposal in EC, would love to see more get going.

2014 was a big year for spec builds. Don't see these guys pushing ahead without anchor tenants or presold inventory.

Does anyone else notice an obvious problem with the 2018 picture?

Like The Bow Valley Square building being on the south side of the Brookfield building?

And the the straight edge of Telus Sky is on the SE corner pointing towards the tower.

Every render I've seen of TELUS Sky has the straight edges on the west and east sides just like in this 2018 picture - I think the problem is this 2018 picture just isn't doing a very good job of showing TELUS Sky in this setting.

Were these done by CtrlAltDel? We have not seen any of his work for a long while now.

Telus Sky would look good if it wasn't bending around like that.

Telus Sky is the only non-corporate looking tower in that part of DT. Can't wait for it to rise!

I prefer the office towers compared with residential towers. I don't like balconies sticking out all over.
