You're right - even though I have season tickets I don't see how going to the games at McMahon is better than watching from home on my big screen tv with actual access to beer, food and a washroom.

We've never had season tickets, but used to go to four or five games a year. Problems with concessions (not enough) and bathrooms (ditto) caused my wife, who's from Regina, to stop going as, in her words "if you have to use the bathroom you miss the whole quarter". Even my buddy isn't keen on the experience anymore, and we've been fans for decades. If anyone's wondering why the Stamps' attendance has been trending downward they need look no further than McMahon. While well located (at least for us out-of-towners), it's just a dingy, dilapidated relic with almost no amenities or even basic comforts that really has no place in modern sports entertainment. The Stamps and the City have got to get something done quickly before attendance declines to Torontonian levels.

Just about anything would be an improvement in Calgary. McMahon is a dump and a disgrace to the city of Calgary.

Mosiac...nothing has really been built like it. But I don't think it's a shoe in for the premier CFL stadium I really think IGF and BC place hold a candle to it quite well

I agree!

-Parking and location... haha, yeah, you're probably right when it comes to that one... until the transitway is finished
-Deeper bowl doesn't mean much to me. IGF is built in a way that dramatically reduces the wind as a factor, and the stadium is still quite impressively tall.
-Wind deflection... we'll have to see that in action to make a call.
-More lounges... I don't know the exact numbers in both stadiums but you're probably right on that one, although IGF has several of its own throughout the stadium.
-Team facilities... again, we'll have to see that in action. It isn't clear to me what NMS has that IGF doesn't in that regard.

As for the canopy, NMS gets more design points. IGF is probably better from a functional standpoint, though... I don't think nearly as many fans will be covered at NMS.

The big difference in roof wind performance is that NMS's is integral to the building and is specifically designed using computer modelling to deflect the prevailing winds.

As far as the Jumbotron they say it will easily be the biggest in Canada and one of the biggest in N. America.

So it's going to be bigger than the one shown in the rendering? This one is big, but it does not look like it's at the top end for size...

The largest in a North American stadium is in Jax and the NMS renderings do not look anywhere close to this in size

No. 2 is in Houston and it also looks a lot bigger

The videoboard in the south endzone will be slightly smaller than the new one in Nashville at LP Field. By far the largest outdoor videoboard in Canada. The virtual venue does not accurately depict the board as it just recently went RFP.

For context, here's a NFL scoreboard the next step down in size from Nissan Stadium's (formerly LP Field), the new and slightly oddly shaped one in Cleveland:

IGF is no slouch in this regard either. Huge rehab tubs players lounges. full gym, video room, board rooms. And both will fall behind to Edmonton. Eskimos have 100 million dollar facility basically built for the team (even though it's a "community centre" at the time (2010ish) it was regarded as the best practice facility/training centre in football. Over time the NFL has built some that make Edmonton's look like a childs toy but it's still the best in the CFL and if you have ever been near it you know why. Even the architecture is top notch

Bombers space looks great, a bit too officy for me though.

I do know for a fact that the Riders area is a completely different tender than the PCL one & is over & above $278M price tag putting the overall price at over $300M.

Upper bowl. New Mosaic's upper bowl sideline seating is oval shaped at the top. There is also an upper bowl in the north end zone as well as 2 additional upper decks in the NW & NE corners. IGF upper bowl has nothing unique.

Spectator roof. New Mosaic roof is translucent which greatly decreases shadows on the field & also is specifically designed to mitigate wind. IGF roof is unique looking but the shadows on the field are unfortunate & as far as I can tell does little to mitigate the wind, given that it is wideopen where it meets the exterior sidewall.

party balconies. Mosaic has 9 while IGF has zero.

Footprint. Mosaic is circular with far more square footage, IGF is oval shaped.

IGF is a great looking stadium but IMO they are apples & oranges.

Thanks Stormer for the images.
IGF does have a party deck. It is located the above the north end zone. THe lower bowl has club seating at centre field and loge seating at the top of the lower bowl - features unique to IGF that will not exist at New Mosaic.

It is worth noting that the once promised 100% roof coverage at New Mosaic never came close to fruition. Instead, there will only be 50% roof coverage. So while the shape of the roof will mitigate wind, it provides far less coverage from the elements than IGF.

Is 25,000 Square Feet far more square footage? 525,000 Square Feet instead of 500,000 Square Feet at IGF. I guess it depends on how it is allocated. Those pics of the upper deck concourse certainly look more spacious than IGF, no doubt. But how much of that extra square footage will be allocated to the club level - a level that doesn't exist at IGF. Guess we will find out soon enough.

I noticed the width of the general seating at Mosaic is not generous as Tim Horton's Field (22") or IGF (21").

Overall, I think Mosaic is an improvement over IGF - the extra club level and the limestone finish at various points in the stadium are the two most notable examples of this. How much of an improvement is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

Isn't that the concourse?

Incorrect. There is loge seating surrounding the majority of the top of the lower bowl.

IMO wind is the element that makes watching football the most harsh, especially later in the season. Also when mentioning the roof one needs to take into account the benefits of a translucent roof.

Less fat people in Saskatchewan. jk

True enough. Even I was amazed to find out they are using limestone finish in the concourses. It is all in the eye of the beholder, I'm just glad that we have folks who've designed stadiums before so we likely won't see the deficiencies that have unfortunately happened in Winnipeg.

Ok I didn't know about the loges being on the lower level on new Mosaic. My mistake.

The party deck at IGF is above the the Bomber offices in the South End Zone. I mistakenly said North End Zone. If you look at this link showing the various sections at IGF you will see as the Enns Zone Sky Deck.

Stadiums are pretty simple structures I cant see anything popping up out of the blue that hasn't already shown its face

Speaking of stadiums I did some digging and a found a perfect spot for one in Quebec city (you're welcome). anyone have 200M kicking around? if you look really closely you can see an old dump that is probably coming down soon anyway all jokes aside if QC ever gets a Stadium this is a no brainier. It would create a great sports culture for the city that in my opinion doesn't exist the way it should. Quebec is missing 2 franchises and it doesn't make sense to me that a push for a CFL team doesn't exist there. I get they have a very successful CIS team but one would think this city has an appetite for at least 1 pro team in the city.

Quebec City won't have a CFL team. nobody want to put their money in that project. Nevertheless, the football culture is big accross the province.
