The Nordstroms Rack I've seen are in strip mall/power center sort of developments, rather than part of outlet malls. Or in a busy urban area, even across the street from a mainline Nordstrom. This was in a few metro areas around the US.

Meanwhile I've only seen Saks puts their outlets in actual outlet malls, so Oakridge would be unusual

Good news. I was surprised when the old Nike store closed down (and was turned into another Foot Locker). The Mexx space is a fair bit larger isn't it?

Also, Nike has re-opened their renovated store in Park Royal Village. Same size, but the layout is better. It's a good looking store. I'd still like to see a Niketown here though.

San Diego has a Nordstrom Rack at Westfield Mission Valley mall, which is an open air mall (not a strip mall). It's the discount cousin to the higher end Fashion Valley mall (also an open air mall). Both malls have Macy's.

MarketPlace at Factoria (near Bellevue, WA) has a newer Nordstrom Rack in a mall
http://www.marketplaceatfactoria.com/mall_directory.asp

Conceivably, Tsawwassen Mills could get both Saks Off 5th and Nordstrom Rack.

the only off saks 5th store i went to was in an outlet mall near san francisco, it was not very large, about the size of a gap store

but it seems HBC wants to make saks off stores more like winners with larger stores and selection?

i didn't think much of the off saks store, it seemed to sell a lot of stuff brought in for the outlet as opposed to stuff that came from not selling at the main store, the brand names didn't reflect a regular saks store selection of brands

Not according to their store locator. I saw a job listing for the location that said the store was opening this 'winter' so I'd guess it's more likely late this month.

Nice photo updates, thank you! Can't wait for all the stores to open there: two or three more to go at the Carlye and then a few more at Fortis/Trump.

Good news for Capilano Village. I'm guessing they will take the large corner space (and possibly others) that has been a bit of a revolving door for tenants in the past couple years.

They may need the bigger Canadian outlet store as the whole business model for their retail stores has turned into much more of a mail-order showroom. Decreased inventory costs, but increased returns?

yea, i've also heard staff say because we are in canada they don't get the same kind of shipments and instore selection/availability as the us stores

it seems the surrey one is there to entice seattle area shoppers too

i was at the rh store in edmonton yesterday, it was really busy, they had some great deals but no signage for the deals, 40% off most gifts and i only found out cause i over heard it mentioned to a customer that the stocking stuffer table was all 40% off and i wasn't the only one who heard cause suddenly the tables got busier and people were loadin up, myself included, also things like their slippers and scarves throught the store were about 40% off but no signage, i am sure if people knew that they were on sale they would get cleared out, as it was people looked at them but didn't buy them, i only found out when i paid that the slippers i was buying as a gift were 40% off, had i known before hand i would have bought a lot more but i was short on time and patience at that point
