Haha, very true.

Seems that there is a bit of a generational shift taking place when it comes to arenas. You can really see the difference between the newest buildings and the 90s/early 00s vintage builds.

It looks like it's in that 18,000 seat range to me.

I know when the MTS Centre opened I had a hard time believing that it sat 15,000 people, but Centre Videotron sure looks the part of an 18,000 seater.

Not really. TFC lost $7 million last year.

This topic has been beated to death, even in this thread. TFC is very profitable if you exclude stadium and facilities construction costs. If amortized over time they are once again in the black.

Based on how long it is taking to get the sub layer done, this may be finished late next year. At least they are not doing the roof with this cladding now.

Crazy what concourse access does for space. To me videotrons seating footprint hardly looks bigger than MTS (the building and ceiling height is obviously much bigger). Those portals take up a ton of space. I thought the same thing about console in 2010 it looked so small when put beside similar buildings built in the 90's

hard to believe one holds 3000 more seats than the other

Because of inept planning both teams will suffer from this.

Right now all MLSE cares about is getting the construction done on time, getting both teams playing, and then planning that Winter Classic. After that all happens a plan will come about on how to fix both situations.

How would there not be enough space? the CFL playing field will be 110 yards regardless of the soccer pitch, It's the endzones that will be short. What i'm suggesting is that TFC plays on the same 110 yard grass pitch that the Argos do. That way both endzones can be fully field turf.

To me... just looking at both pictures, the Videotron Center has about 8 more rows in the lower bowl, and access both bowls without tunnels, which take up a pile of seating room in the MTS Center. Aside from that they look quite similar.

Attendance capacities from Edmonton and Calgary subsidize that of QC.

I will say that from a fan standpoint having access through vomitories is great, as the upper level seats are a lot closer to the ice as a result... the MTS Centre's upper deck is a lot lower than in other rinks. But yes, it does appear that in the MTS Centre, not having access to the bowls from the concourse results in the loss of somewhere in the range of around 500-800 seats...

lol, dream on...they're keeping the prominent multi-storey TFC logos embossed on the sides of the stadium and the Soccer Canada logo on the Western stands too.

Man, I can't wait till Argos season starts at BMO, we'll see if all this trash talking is backed up with real support or just bluster.
