Yeah, that's pretty cool. I'm assuming it's based on the same technology as the 3D stadium views for most of the other major stadiums? Just you actually get to sit in a seat, with a screen around you. Pretty neat!

I am assuming you are about to find out, at least provisionally and then you get to check it out in VR and may have some ability to make adjustments.

What I heard is that they will start form the 55 yard line and work outwards.

We can get two things from this:
  • The forward span of the roof isn't going in this year
  • The West side is probably almost roof-ready.

The end spans may get craned in from the field side. The should be lighter as well.

Might they do all the forward spans on all sides from a crane in the middle of the Stadium?

Edit: Apparently Stormer beat me to it.

Somewhere, I did see timbers (looked like the same ones used on East side) inside the stadium - i.e. future playing surface area. I don't know if it was a pic or video - probably from last media tour.

The were leveling and laying something down in the northeast corner of the playing area. Also, the roofing that was being laid down in the north east appears to be corrugated steel, as opposed to the membrane.

I can't see them laying the ties down on the "playing" surface for the inner end trusses. Hmmmm, I guess we'll see.

I think the ties are already laid down inside the stadium. The playing surface isn't finished - If I remember back to the September update they mentioned it still had to be excavated 8' or so and then built back up with the proper foundation for the playing surface which happens next year (again, working from memory here which has been failing lately)

Yeah, that's right, I forgot about that - and it makes sense. . I sit corrected.

I've been a downer on a couple things lately (mostly nit-picking), but here's a little excerpt from a Leader Post article I really appreciated... Hope it's not a typo... It was one of my biggest beefs with the design, but I have a feeling it was a mistake in the LP.

The $278-million stadium was conceptualized with the the idea of playing host to events like a Grey Cup game in mind. It can be expanded from 33,000 seats to 44,000 with temporary seating in the south end zone.

What part do you think is a mistake? It's common knowledge that it can be expanded to 44k for events. Or at least I thought it was common knowledge.

I caught that too. I thought the expanded version was only 40,000. Reading that it was 44,000 was a pleasant surprise, and then I thought, hmmm... the LP doesn't always get its facts right. I really hope it is 44,000.

Yeah, I had always thought that it was expandable to 40k. 44k would be more appropriate. We'd still fill 'er up --- no problem.

I've definitely seen the 44K number numerous times before.

It would be neat if the new mosaic could add a water feature around where the main jumbotron will be. Something like at the Kauffman stadium
