Good and bad news there. Maybe give them time to rethink design.

Ideally they want to do the SW tower first along Jasper, followed by the other tower on Jasper and will do the entire parkade for the first 2 towers together. Phase 2 will be the 2 north towers. They are looking at working with the city to remove the awkward LRT entrance along Jasper and incorporate it into the tower similar to Williams Engineering or Cambridge Lofts. They want to get going on this by fall 2016.

I have cooled my jets on DECL. I am thrilled that this group of local developers has come together for this project. Clearly this project will see the light of day. i do not like the LRT entrance at Cambridge - it is what it is because it is a passage way. I hope the design of a new entrance in this project provides easier and more immediate access to the concourse with an elevator at the developers cost.

I really wish they'd change that name, I keep getting it confused with the Muttart Conversatory.

Absolutely. The name is only a name....but Really!

I guess Marketing didn't seem to think this was a big deal!

Kinda like naming a new tower in Edmonton....Jasper House!

Or having 2 out of 9 teams in the CFL called the Roughriders circa 1996.

Northwest Edmonton's Blatchford lake project losing wave of support
Administration warns lake would be expensive and contrary to neighbourhood's vision

By Laura Osman, CBC News Posted: Nov 26, 2015 5:00 AM MT Last Updated: Nov 26, 2015 5:00 AM MT

The original plan for Blatchford includes two storm water ponds and a recreational lake. (City of Edmonton )

Support is draining for a recreational lake in the new Blatchford neighbourhood development.

City staff have advised council the lake would be expensive and out of line with the vision for the area.

The original plan for Blatchford, which will be developed on the old city centre airport lands, included two storm-water ponds and a recreational lake.

If the lake were created as a public amenity, it would attract more vehicle traffic to the area, according to city administration.

After studying the idea, staff released a report that said the extra traffic in Blatchford would be out of step with the transit and pedestrian orientation designed for the area...
