In the Montréal CMA, francophones are more likely to leave the city of Montréal than anglophones and allophones.

In the Montréal and Vancouver CMAs, persons born in Canada are more likely to leave the central municipality.

In all three metropolitan areas, persons born in Canada to parents also born in Canada (non-immigrants) were less represented in central municipalities than in surrounding municipalities. This gap was particularly large in the Montréal area where non-immigrants represented less than one-half of the central municipality's population (45%). In comparison, non-immigrants represented 74% of the population in Montréal's surrounding municipalities. The corresponding proportions were 29% in the central municipality and 34% in the surrounding municipalities in the Vancouver CMA.

Paradoxically, however, residents of central municipalities were more likely to have low income after-tax than those in surrounding municipalities.

Thanks, I try. There truly are some amazing photographs on Flickr from right across Canada.

Regina seemed a lot like the other prairie cities to me (especially Winnipeg and Edmonton) but with less water and more football. Granted I was only there for a couple days.

I always find Edmonton, Winnipeg and Regina have a pretty similar vibe. Saskatoon and Calgary have a similar vibe too, but not as much as the other 3. Mind you, I haven't been to Toon Town in about 15 years, so who knows what it's like these days...

I was only in them for a day, so it had more to do with architecture, but I think I got a bit of a feel.

Like I said, I only saw them for a day, but Saskatoon felt like a mix of Thunder Bay and Hamilton to me. There was one street that felt exactly like Thunder Bay.

Haven't been to Hamilton, and I think I stayed a night in TB on the way to or from the east coast as a kid, don't remember it though. I think I need to get back east here soon...

To be honest there isn't a huge amount to see in TBay, so I wouldn't choose it as a destination unless you know some locals. If you're driving from the East to the West or vice versa it can be an alright place to stop off and stretch your feet for a day or two though.

Always liked that view of the stadium looking at DT! I never liked that "Mushroom" shaped building though (left of center)!

^I think that with the developments in the western part of downtown, we can no longer claim that PVM is the central part of the downtown. The skyline has now split into two distinct sections: west of Peel and east of Mansfield. The only way to bridge this gap would be to see a 200m tower go up on Central Station's parking garage on La Gauchetiere. You could also build over Place Bonaventure, but that's not realistic.
