Did they not know a park was going to be built there when they designed that orange/red disaster? Wouldn't you want to capitalize on the little bit of green space in that area with views of it from the building you are putting up? What value do fake windows have? Terrible.

I think it will be; there are a few ~10 story lofts and office buildings, but nothing taller south of Congress.

It looks like that view is from Polk looking south. And it looks like the tower might not be wide enough to stretch over to Clinton, so there will still be a small parking lot at that corner for now.

112 parking stalls for 110 units seems a bit parking heavy, given that it's a couple of blocks from groceries or the blue line, and a few more from the loop. But it looks like it's right on the edge of the 1320ft TOD zone for the blue line.

I wonder if some of that parking is replacing the lot it's being built over, and if the existing building will remain commercial?

In any case, I hope this gets built. That area is a bit of a wasteland of parking lots now, but if the city would let it, a bit of residential built over those parking lots could integrate the retail and commercial uses between Roosevelt and Congress into a reasonably walkable mixed use neighborhood.

This is why you build lot line to lot line. Im sure the developers of HoJo are thrilled that this pile of dogshit will be facing their front door during lease ups.

The last time a developer tried to build residential in this area, the city slapped them down for some asinine reason.

Here's hoping this one will be approved.

Tri-Taylor had a meeting with Alderman Ervin last night about the IMD Gateway (2020 W Ogden) development on the corner of Harrison and Damen. Unfortunately, I didn't stay the entire meeting because it was most of the comments were about unrelated parking issues. Anyways... 1.2 million sq. ft. of medical office along Harrison (I believe 8-10 stories), 80,000 sq. ft. Retail, 4 story/530 space parking garage along Hoyne, 2 hotels (1 regular, 1 extended-stay, IIRC, 225 rooms) flanking the garage on the north and east sides, and a residential tower at the Polk/Ogden intersection. Developer mentioned "about" 15 stories, "young professional" housing, wasn't clear on if it is dormitory style or not with the back and forth between residents and developer.

The project is hoping to have ground broken in the middle of 16 with first openings in 17. Supposedly planning has approved a site plan and the developer is working with some board of underground utilities or something.

Does anyone know of a way to pull site plans from the city website? Is it even possible?

Just remember this picture when you are voting for Alderman Reilly, look at that 707 N Wells turdbox... THAT IS WHAT HE WANTED THERE, THAT IS WHAT THE RNRA WANTED THERE... the previous rendering for the property was a million times better (but gasp, MODERN)... just remember VOTE THAT TASTLESS HACK OUT

Update the Montrose & Clarendon rendering on page 1. Also added entry and rendering for the new Jefferson & Polk highrise and 403 North Wabash, next to Trump (thanks spyguy, hydro & ithakas).

The Jewel on Clark and Division is just about gone. Also, they are digging up the parking lot where the tower will go.
