I'm waiting for Pallister to throw a hissy fit on how reckless Selinger is being.

I wonder what this means for 100 @ 330, though? Wasn't that intersection slated for the stop-light treatment? (Or maybe it is already, I never go that way) Is it not going to get an "interstate standard" diamond too?

I'm not sure what happened to the original 330 plan. Looks like MIT just put up a set of lights at the existing intersection. But yes there are lights there now.

The original plan had included a large realignment of PR 330 to a new intersection. A future interchange was planned there, with the roadway extending northward into undeveloped land west of Waverley West.

Maybe the plan will change now if they're going ahead with the rest of the interchanges. I don't really know.

Does anybody have any thoughts on how Pallister will do in the election? Are there any polls that say who is winning one way or another.

Edit: I see Wiki has some poll results that show PC way ahead.

It is hard to tell. They are presently very comfortable with lying to the public (Filmon fired 1000 nurses and 100 other lies) and the public just sucks it in. So they could get in again.

Doesn't matter much to me.

That really is the problem now isn't it? I want Sellinger out so bad i would essentially vote for anyone but what does Pallister really offer? It is just a sad situation for us in Manitoba in terms of leaders.

Sort of odd the deadliest Perimeter intersection, based on number of fatalities in collisions, is not on that list. Guess it's a "good thing" Gunn Rd has a stop sign and not a set of traffic lights.

I wonder how true this is? With the feds ramping up the infrastructure machine, Manitoba will be poised to get a fair number of projects in the years ahead... even if the entire wishlist doesn't get built, surely at least, say, 2 of the 4 planned interchanges should go up?

The thing is that MIT has been working on these plans for about a year now. Sellinger is using it currently as an election promise. MIT needs to get the Functional Design out to consultants asap to get things in motion.

Releasing an RFP can take form no time to years, depending on the willingness of the party.

Functional design takes usually from 1-2 years after all the public consultations, design periods, etc.

By the time the funding is approved, it'll be a few years likely. Unless they're cooking up a deal in the background with Trudeau.

If the PST is put back down, that's roughly half the highways budget gone.

If Pallister get's in, all plans will be shutdown purely out of spite first. Then out of necessity, since they will peal back the PST.

The news release didn't mention it at all, but the WFP article on the subject quotes Selinger as saying that construction will begin by 2022.

So basically this is a make-believe announcement then? Considering how projects are routinely delayed at the best of times, we're probably a good, what, 15 years away from being able to actually drive on them?

LOL 2022 eh.. Might as well shutdown this thread. If they're actually serious, 7 years before to construction is ridiculous. There'll be another election before then, never mind the election scheduled this April. They should be under construction by 2018 latest.

Why the question mark? Of course it is.

What a joke. And here I thought it was finally going to happen.

Ah Manitoba, where 4 diamond interchanges on a busy highway is dreaming the impossible dream.

Oh geez. Missed that part.

Scratch what I said about timelines perspective haha I thought it would be much sooner for construction to start.

This kind of infrastructure is already long overdue.
