Nope, sorry. I'll try to remember to have a look and take some pics next time I'm over there.

Here's a look at the former Plaza 500 at 12th and Cambie. It appears that Firefly and Yuk Yuks are still open. The last two pics are looking across 12th.

For the Plaza 500 - the gray colour didn't really help.
Even if they keep the gray on the tower, I think a brighter colour would look much better on the podium.

Has any work resumed on this site? I drive by often and swear I saw some windows open where they were closed previously... could be squatters.

I don't know - it seems like it's been that way forever.

Mcminsen, once again thanks for the great update. Always appreciated when the newer members are acknowledged by your in depth photo updates and responses to our newbie queries.

I have been keeping an eye on this project since just after the Olympics when Indigo Hotel started to go down. They were slowly replacing all the windows in the tower over the summer and it appears from the pics that there's also new drywall in the tower suites. Also the orange panels between the smaller windows are very new, i'm not sure if they are steel or what. It would be nice if they painted the drab dark blue on the balconies to match. Seems they are using the podium as storage for the materials going in the tower but the second floor above the hotel entrance has been opened up as you can see in mcminsens pics, maybe they're starting to renovate the podium. I'd like to see the curved plexiglass restaurant completely remodeled along with the facade of the podium, its never been an attractive building.

Also in the future it would be great if they demolished the southern portion of the podium and built a second tower on the southern corner of the property. The views from those top floor suites facing north must be spectacular.

So the tower used to be a Sheraton? Who would have guessed...

I am not completely sure what is going on with the tower, but I hope it re-opens soon, as there should be some sweet views from the top floors.

The twin excavation for Vya and The Duke is coming right along. This is on Kingsway on the block just north of Kingsgate Mall and just up from the Independent.

End of an era for iconic Molson brewery in downtown Vancouver

Read more: http://www.vancouversun.com/business/mol...uarter/11496283/story.html#ixzz3qgfrYa7F

http://www.vancouversun.com/business/mol...rter/11496283/story.html?__lsa=d078-ee0a

It is last call for the Molson Coors brewery in Vancouver, one of the last major industries on the south side of False Creek.

After nearly 60 years in operation, producing hundreds of millions of litres of beer, the landmark brewery at the foot of Burrard Bridge is being closed and will move to another location in B.C.

The company confirmed Thursday it has sold the three-hectare property for an undisclosed sum but that it remains committed to building a new, more efficient plant elsewhere in the province. The sale doesn’t close until early 2016 and the company says it will continue to lease back the property from the new owner until it has a new location.

talk about a great site for redevelopment. and with the first nations site RIGHT next door should see a lot of height at this end of the Burrard Street bridge sooner than later

Another interesting proposal for Mount Pleasant. This one is going into a tiny, triangular lot at 4th and Scotia:
