I changed my mind about the Fish Creek Manor Village. Looks like Venetian era Edmonton.

Oh, I don't really agree. I mean, it's bad.. but it's certainly not a hodgepodge of nonsense. It's just so plain and boring that it's hideous, not offensively hideous like the Venetian.

True. If anything this is too austere. The Venetian wasn't austere enough.

Yeah, it is a seniors residence though, so I mean we can't really be too picky about this one. The floor plans are actually quite nice, the bachelor is a bit sad though.

It's not that it looks like the Venetian, it's that at the time the Venetian was built Edmonton seemed to be pumping out these stucco shit boxes left right and centre. Many of them were yellow or beige. That's what I meant by Venetian era.

It's a senior residence. Beige stucco/precast has been the go to exterior finish for as long as I can remember. Same with suburban hotels.

Not a huge fan of the Atlandtic Living and Marda Loop projects. The former is mostly just too wiiiddddeeee to have a proper main street presence. Infinity looks like a mishmashed disaster with the stone podium and uneven street frontage. Both neighbourhoods deserve better!

While it's suburban I was hoping more of Brentwood Village as well. Maybe it's just me but that new proposal looks a bit too much like 1990s Scarborough.

Good to see the Bridges redevelopment getting back on track though! Or I assume from that proposal.

The block is directly across Spring Garden from the new library (here - the opposite side of the block is also kind of interesting). There's a simpler art deco building between the BMO and the red brick victorians.

^ Quite a nice project, but I'm opposed to demolishing all those attractive old buildings.

I would rather it replace the nondescript buildings on Brunswick Street where Port of Wines and Zwicker's Gallery are.

The street interaction of Atlantic Living is actually quite nice, and will extend the pedestrian realm of Inglewood - along with Avli on Atlantic - an entire block to the west. I do agree about Infinity in Marda, at least it's on 34 ave and not 33rd though. It's an expansion of the urban realm and population density there, nonetheless. So I think it'll be good.

Here's the interaction of Atlantic Living... I think the difference in materials and the sectioning of the facade, along with street furniture, will make it a fairly decent pedestrian realm. Not to mention it's bringing over 100 rental units to Inglewood

If I remember correctly there was a proposal for that block as well a year or two ago but it was scuttled for being "too intense" or something at ~8 stories (which is the new norm for the area)
