Apparently the potential Forsyth-Walton building demolition made the rounds a few weeks ago but somehow news never made it to this forum:
http://m.clatl.com/freshloaf/archives/20...ld-retail-keep-data-center-nice-and-cool

The building is part of the Fairlie-Poplar National Register Historic District, and was featured in the first episode of "the Walking Dead." While built in 1900, the art deco façade dates to 1936. The second floor of the building is currently vacant, and does not have an elevator or ADA access. The pipe sign on the corner of the building was placed by the Royal Cigar Company. It used to have neon "smoke rings" rising from the pipe.

The application will be presented at the November 10th ADNA general body meeting, in case anyone is interested. Here's the full application:

Wow, lots of development news today. Seems like a new time for mega projects? 700 units near Georgia Tech campus? Another 800+ in Northwest Atlanta?

Also an application for a "new commercial building with office and retail" at 1529 Piedmont Ave NE. This is currently the Clear Creek Center just north of Piedmont Park, near where Piedmont and Monroe come together. It's within the Beltline overlay. Anybody know what this is?

And another development next to the Beltline Eastside trail. Application from Oak Street Development for 4 new houses at 680 Drewry St. I'm assuming these are townhouses, but there's no other info on the application.

On the westside, construction application filed for an 8 story, 406 unit apartment building with 16,000sqft retail. This is the Allen Morris project, at 11th street just north of Miller Union.
I recall for the Clear Creek Center they had plans to add something facing the new Piedmont Park area there.

You're right, I got my wires crossed with a couple of those... I thought 1075 Peachtree had been completed around the same time as 1180... however I still stand by what I said. It's worth nothing that nearly all of that additional space came from projects that had gotten their footing before the recession. Almost nothing has happened in the last four or five years.

That would be a misstatement, but I didn't say that--I said a few years, which isn't very long at all in real estate terms. By 2020, sure, something big will probably have happened... but a spec office tower under construction in Midtown in 2016 or 2017? I'd be very surprised to see that happening (Portman monstrosity aside, although I won't believe it ends up as large as the early reports said until the dirt starts moving).

Passed by AMLI Arts Center parking lot today and both entrances (Spring and W. Peachtree are fenced off) I imagine this should be moving forward soon.

No permits have been filed for T3 so I doubt it will make it by this year. NCR is expected to break ground this Winter though and they have filed for permits.

Also Clear Creek Center may be meh, but once the Beltline moves into this part I think all those 80's style suburban shopping centers will be redeveloped. Wasn't Ansley Mall at one point going to get an Atlantic Station style treatment?

The VP of Development for Hines stated they are going speculative immediately at both Atlantic Station and Avalon and expressed strong confidence in the Atlanta market.

I know this is a skyscraper forum but it seems to me there's also a lot of dense townhome developments going on around the city. A lot of them are pretty high end.

There may be no single source to keep track of all this but in my opinion these projects have a significant impact on our town.

Cheshire Bridge Apartment development 2740 Cheshire Bridge permit is approved pending remaining fees paid.

Alexan Buckhead Apartment complex is approved pending remaining fees paid.

359 East Paces Ferry filed for permit for office building/retail recently http://livablebuckhead.com/359-east-paces-ferry-road/

Also Atlanta's Accela interface was updated, it looks much cleaner now.

Reed is dropping serious hints at a big residential / commercial development to be announced in downtown soon:

Quote:
“I think in the next 120 to perhaps 180 days you’ll see a series of announcements related to Atlanta that are just stunning. Let’s look at the block around the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. …You are going to have an 800 (room) hotel that’s coming in between 250 and 350 million, you are going to have between 150 and 250 million going into retrofitting Philips Arena. You’ll probably see residential and commercial construction component around Philips Arena between 500 million and a billion.”
http://business.blog.ajc.com/2015/10/26/...a-500-million-plus-round-of-development/

The article speculates it could be for the Gulch. I am not sure where else a $500M - $1B project could fit downtown.
