The City of Montreal and the Quebec government will invest $ 70.4 million to redevelop the entire west end of Île Ste-Hélène. to increase its capacity from 45 000 to 65 000 people.

Calgary's 34 storey, 390-unit, 114 meter Marriott Residence Inn and accompanying 30 storey, 303-unit, 100 meter rental residential tower have now submitted a building permit. Site prep is technically underway with the removal of asbestos from the Alberta Boots Factory along the CP tracks in the Beltline. Another block of railway parking gone!

We have been waiting for this one since 2013. It will be the first of our many hotel proposals to finally go through. Here's hoping the 3 in Eau Claire follow suit soon!

It's about time something fills the gap by the tracks. I don't think there's anything on the other side from the CBD though so it will still appear quite empty. Will definitely help having something this height ease the transition from DT to the Beltline though.

I like that the vast majority of Mtl projects avoid the "tower set back on a podium" style and are mostly elevation right at the edge of the sidewalk. It creates very urban street wall.

Neither is fantastic but I wouldn't put them in the same category as the Laval Clocktower.

A baby one. The Wandering Pavilion is being set up this coming summer and will be moved throughout the downtown. It's a WiFi hub/event space. Some neighbourhoods might use it as a farmers market, others for performance arts, etc. Should be fun to see what people come up with.

It'll be in St. John's for 2016, elsewhere on the island in 2017, and then sent to the mainland. It's not the first of its kind in Canada.
