According to their cached pdf: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/se...links/1827.pdf+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
floor sizes are actually around 24,000 RSF. So... about 80% of the size of 162.
I'm pretty sure some of the new buildings near Union Station have larger floor sizes.
Just based off taking measurements from Google Earth, the Republic plaza floor plate would be about 27,000 SF, with the actual leasable probably 15% less due to the elevator/restroom core and structural elements, so 24,000 sounds right.

OK, I found the west elevation for the dual branded hotel, and am very confused. How are they able to put windows on that side which faces the convention center, because the building definitely does not step back as seen in the west elevation. Bubba Gumps isn't historic so it could torn down and a new building built right up to the lot line, which would essentially block all of those south facing windows on the new dual brand hotel.

Maybe they're fake windows.

I thought so too, but the elevation says things like punched windows, and glass curtain wall, which leads me to believe they aren't fake.

The west elevation faces the alley. The south elevation is adjacent to Bubba Gump. Both have vision glass. There are building separation requirements when opening occur on a building. Any building adjacent to the hotel, would likely need to be at least 30 feet away.

^ Maybe White Lodging purchased Bubba Gump's and it will forever be preserved.

mojiferous... Ah hah, good sleuthing - thanks for the correction. With a couple of things going, I didn't even give it a thought.

I just checked 1601 Wewatta St. Upper floors generally have floor plates of about 28,500 RSF but floors 4,5,6 have near 30,700 SF and floors 2,3 have 35,359 and 36,877 SF.

If that's the case then I wonder how the city could impose on a future Bubba Gump's property owner that their tower will have to have the set back while the neighbor (White's project) gets to go right to the property line with real windows. And why on this site and not on other sites in Downtown where solid blank walls were built? Hmmm....

Apparently Transamerica will be fully moved into the century link building downtown on Nov 2. Anyone remember how much their move of their HQ from San Fran to Denver is taking up?

Thanks for the elevation schematics of the hotel. Do you know of any for the office tower portion?

Matt, those are elevation drawings for the new dual branded hotel at 15th and California, not Block 162.

Too bad that block 162 won't have a new tallest and I sure wish this project wasn't so boxy and had instead a pointy topped tower, also I sure wish an observation tower could have been built as well but as always developers need to get the big bang for their bucks.. On the bright side I like the structure over the old Sage building and the what appears to be blue glass on the office tower.

Perhaps the Trango Tower site could still someday be the place for a new tallest or a vacant lot on 17th around Tremont (the site were the old Kenmark Hotel once stood).

Miss Colorado but don't miss the cold and snow at least didn't have to bring a snow shovel here..lol!!

Yeah I recall this was in the hopper for awhile and I bet a flight to Berlin maybe next plus perhaps British Airways could add a flight to Manchester UK soon (worked a long time at DIA before a job transfer and new wife brought me to Sacramento). I seem to be surprised that United, American or Delta has not considered adding flights to South American cities as a relief route through places like DFW, Miami or Atlanta..

DIA is pushing for a flight to the Middle East. Either Emirates to Dubai or Turkish to Istanbul.

United flew this route several years ago and cancelled it so hopefully Lufthansa can make Munich work with the A330. I wonder if they will keep sending the 747 for the flights to Frankfurt? Paris or Amsterdam would be a nice add likely with United on a 787. That would pretty much cover the major hubs in Europe.

Fancy CRJs to Sao Paulo for some. Miniature American flags for others.

Last December United started flights between Denver and Panama City. Panama is well regarded as a business and financial center and a great hub to all of South America, especially through Copa Airlines which is a code sharing partner of United. Copa Air is a dominant LatAm airline. United recently cut that back to only seasonal flights. Some think that the time of day scheduling was a problem.

The other issue is likely the South American economic distress, especially in Brazil the largest economy. Most South American economies rely on oil and/or mining, both of which have been taking a beating as prices have dropped dramatically. I'm sure travel budgets have suffered as well. Brazilian JBS, one of the largest meat producers in the world whose American HQ is in Greeley is still doing fine but they're the exception it would seem.

Even though we are a United hub, if there's no serious demand for a flight, an airline won't fly a route. While not exactly useful in 2015, here is Brooking's 2011 interactive report on international origin-destination for air travel. It's the most current report I could find, as Dept of Transportation numbers were only giving me O/D numbers for routes currently flown, but DOT may have put the information I wanted somewhere else. Still, it's a good gauge to see what the demand is (well really was) for an international route. Of course 2011 was in the midst of the Great Recession, so demand will have changed. Regardless, I did create a sortable Google Sheet with the Brookings Data, and I added some additional data, too.

Dude, you can't present actual data, you know better. Numbers aren't allowed on the forum. We go with our guts around here.

Great work. Now that Lufthansa is resuming Munich, there probably isn't much chance of getting Swiss to start service to Denver. But I would love to see KLM try Denver from Amsterdam, Asiana or Korean from Seoul, and Turkish from Istanbul. That would add a ton of connectivity to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Probably not gonna happen anytime soon, but if Denver keeps growing at this pace, I wouldn't be surprised if one of those routes is started sometime in the next 5 years.
