-but the Huntington archive has no information on it's location other than Los Angeles.

I've rotated the aerial view and stretched it square.

The LA Riding Academy was located just south of Beverly Boulevard. You'll find the Cedars Sinai Medical Center there today. There's more info in Martin Pal's post #27193. Here's roughly the same area on Google Maps.

Something is out of kilter here ER. None of Parker's bar photos are at this weird angle....at least that I have seen. Can you post the direct link? Thanks. I would like to investigate more.

We've seen the Foy House many times over the years. The image above is from gsjansen's post #3924. It includes a few other pictures of the house at its original location, which would later be the site of Hoffman Studebaker and then the Statler Hotel.

Here's what Big Orange Landmarks has to say about the Foy House:

Man, talk about a survivor. This house hasn’t had just one location in its Los Angeles history. Not two, nor even three, but four different sites has this home called home. According to Landmarks of Los Angeles by McGrew and Julian, it was built in 1872 at the corner of Seventh and Figueroa (then called Pearl), being moved to Wilshire Boulevard in 1921. It was then relocated to 633 South Witmer Street, and, in 1993, finally wound up at its present spot on Carroll Avenue.

In all the posts about the Foy House, I don't think we've seen it at the South Witmer Street location. Here's Julius Shulman's photo from 1966. The street numbers are clearly visible in "Job 4119: Foy (Mary E.) House (Los Angeles, Calif.), 1966".

The house is opposite the end of Carroll Avenue, and now very close to the Foy House, although the Foy House didn't reach its current location until a decade after the Shulman picture was taken. It looks like it's had some much needed restoration over the years.

Chiming in on this discussion about a most lovely bar. It would appear to me to have accidentally been included in the group of photos as the only building listed with interior photos is the Joy Yuen Restaurant and it certainly doesn't fit with the other interior shots of the restaurant. The info on the listing mentions the designer as a modern furniture designer, not an architect.

Beyond that I would judge the design of the bar to be of the Streamline Modern era and intended to serve only as a waiter/waitress pickup station (note the absence of bar stools or accommodation for them). It is quite obvious the location had to be a very upscale, high end establishment based upon the bartender attire and the leather covering. It would be most interesting to pair this with an exterior as I'm guessing it would be most unique and original in concept.

You made some very good points Retired-In-Texas. I thought I'd go back and take a second look.

I was hoping the bartender had a badge or monogram on his shirt (he doesn't).
Then I noticed the glassware on the top center shelf had insignias or crests, so I zoomed in.

but they're all mix-matched and too difficult to read

There's a fancy "knob" with writing on top of the blender that I hadn't noticed.
Better yet, the pretzel jar, which I hadn't noticed before either, has the word JULIE on it (along the bottom).

If I'm not mistaken, the holder probably tilts so you don't have to remove the jug to pour...right?

Here's a trio of poignant photos of Angels Flight taken by Julius Shulman in 1969. They're all from "Job 4490: Angels Flight (Railway) (Los Angeles, Calif.), 1969".

This photo had some blank space at the bottom, so I trimmed it and kept it a little larger. With the end of its life at the original location coming to an end, and with an uncertain future, there were obviously cut-backs on the Angels Flight maintenance budget.

In the distance, the Northern is the only building still standing on Clay Street.
