I haven't gone into this new location yet, but details like this turn me off. Same goes for B&T at Queen. I live 2 blocks away but could only tolerate rude boss lady so many times.
I love B&T, but agree that it challenges one's patience sometimes. Too bad to hear about the place on Cannon maybe adopting a similar MO.

Battle for 1 St. James Place intensifies

Hamilton Spectator By Matthew Van Dongen

The owners of 1 St. James Place say they will apply to demolish the newly designated historic home because it is unsafe and full of mould.

Council voted to impose an 11th-hour heritage designation on the property last year, voiding a city permit that would have allowed the owner to demolish the 78-year-old home's porch and attached garage and create a parking area near St. Joseph's Hospital.

Now that a provincial board has ruled in favour of the designation, co-owner Victor Veri has told the city he will file another demolition permit — this time for the entire building.

Veri said in a letter to council recent engineering and consulting reports show the building "is in unsafe condition, has health issues and it is not practicable to repair or restore."

Council and the heritage committee would have to weigh in on a demolition permit request, said Coun. Jason Farr, who predicted the request would face "an uphill battle."

Veri said Wednesday night if council rejects the permit request he would appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board.

Some action at Cannon/Wellington lot. Looks like they got a city hall date. They're also about to put a fence up I think.

Was walking on James North this afternoon and noticed that the old Bi-Way that the asian market has been using as storage has a few for lease signs up in the window. There was a guy painting the outside and some people inside cleaning the place out. About damn time.

2202 George sounds like the wrong address. I assume the location is this:

I hope to hell this happens!

From the background buildings in the image it looks like it would be the lot at the northeast corner of George and Caroline (Ellen Fairclough on the left, Bentley Place on the right)... which would make it a concept for a future phase of Vranich's development.

Awesome! That's 22 George Street, the next phase of the Vrancor development. They must have the address labelled wrong.

Here's the thread:

22 George Street | ? | 25 fl | Proposed

It looks like it got a height increase to around 32 floors too.

The podium looks pretty 1970 but it's a hell of an improvement over most apartment towers. I think they would change the design if it goes forward.

"Hey this is a really nice, 100 year old brick building. Think I'll cover it in stucco and blue paint"
