According to the Arby's website two locations in Winnipeg, Polo Park and Kildonan Place malls.

possibly i dunno befor my time i did stuff for 2 years in that space amazing discoverd what i really love doing witch is sound. since gone out and bought my own qsc sound system

If there were unlimited funds for rehab, wouldn't it be a nice locale for a Winnipeg Titanic museum...?

^ I'd rather see normal city activity (residences, office space, retail/restaurants) on that site... a Titanic museum here wouldn't make any sense.

What are the odds that the site gets redeveloped if the existing building is demolished? Perhaps something might be in the cards... I remember being surprised when the Humphry Inn was built across the street from there about 15 years ago... I certainly didn't expect to see a new hotel rise at that location. The proximity to Portage and Main and The Forks makes it a reasonably appealing site...

At the risk of being accused of being the baconator guru (prefer Arby's), I agree. It was pretty far from me but once or twice a month I'd make the trek out to Transcona for some beef & cheddars.

Isnt this a pretty successful chain otherwise? Why cant it work in Winnipeg?

In terms of Arby's the local marketing fund is likely what ultimately did them in. If you never went to one few people seemed to know what they even sold.

In terms of the Regent demolition, as a general rule you don't spend money to tear down an asset even if it is a vacant building unless you have a plan in place. That suggests something is happening with the site. Hopefully it is the first Winnipeg Chipotle.

Although in this case, bemoaning the loss of another (quality live blues venue, you know gives the city character, drop by and see Robert Plant do a set and so on..) I do agree it's time to go. Wasn't there talk of a developer purchasing this(these) buildings awhile back? Can't remember the conversation at the moment..

It's his building, he can choose to maintain it or not. Plus the entire outer facade is shot. It needs to go.

Yes I do. But there are economic reasons to not maintain the building. If there is no market for the upper floors (and there isn't otherwise they would be occupied), why spend the money on fixing them up?

^ You don't have to maintain it to cosmetically appealing standards, but if you let the place fall to ruin then you are on the wrong side of the law.

^^ Rooming House for starving and down and out musicians and artists. Subsidies by your provincial Government..They'd even help to fix er up, and the owner would pad his bottom line from those on social assistance. Although in this case, don't think he kept her up to code....
