The site plan/scale of the renderings conflicts with the residential tower in the background. Those were probably concepts to combine a Starwood hotel with a residential building before the Great Recession hit and/or concepts under review in more recent years before Starwood decided to develop the site as 2 different buildings.

You beat me to it. I was about to post that the rendering looks vaguely familiar and is most likely an old proposal from the 00's.

I do remember now...this is when the Firestone Tires wouldn't sell, so they ended up renovating the Crown Plaza and making that the W Hotel.

Weingarten is planning a nearly $300 million redevelopment of the Civic Center, which would include demolishing the center and building a mixed-use project in its place at Piedmont Avenue, Ralph McGill Boulevard and Pine Street.
The project could include 250,000 square feet of office space, 222,900 square feet of retail, a grocery store, 250 condominiums, 386 apartments and 20 townhomes. A park, amphitheater and water fountains surrounded by a wine bar and restaurants could sit at the center of the project.

Big Bethel plans multi-use project for Auburn Avenue

The first phase is the renovation of Bethel Towers, a 182-unit high-rise housing development at 210 Auburn Ave., next to the church. The tower of one- and two-bedroom apartments was built in 1971, and occupancy was based on income.

Additional phases will include construction of a multi-level shared parking deck that will have about 800 spaces on one acre of land located on the southwestern corner of the intersection of Jesse Hill Jr. Drive and John Wesley Dobbs Avenue.

Constructed adjacent to the parking lot will be student housing and ground-floor retail space, with about 321 units accommodating 1,000 beds.

The final phase will cover new construction and rehabilitation of existing church facilities and business space located on Auburn Avenue that includes a vacant lot and more than 12,500 square feet of existing commercial space.

very disappointed in the early concepts for the Civic Center. looks like something that should be in the suburbs. Really hope they make some changes.

I really hope that's not the final design for the Tech computing tower. It's hideous

As for the civic center, Peachtree-Pine and the crime around there don't exactly make that a prime piece of real estate. I welcome anything that could add a little more life to that area no matter how uninteresting it is.

Uninteresting beats hideous by a mile anyway... I wish Tech was building something like that instead of that God-awful tower. I didn't know what to make of that thing at first but I hate it more every time I see it.

There's a coming soon sign up where the Cornerstone Medical Offices building is going, it had a different rendering on it than the one that is floating around. Didn't get a picture, but it looked more modern

Looks like a permit was filed for a new mixed used residential and commerical building at 700 Memorial Drive. I checked all developments and renderings and couldn't find anything on it.

Looks like a permit was filed for a new mixed used residential and commerical building at 700 Memorial Drive. I checked all developments and renderings and couldn't find anything on it.

Based on minimal checking - owner Jackson Properties Inc. - it could be this..

Please don't diss it. There's a big need and demand for private student housing, and that stretch of Memorial is going cheap.
