At jeddy1989's place for a few drinks. Had to walk from Barter's Hill to Flower's Hill to the superette for some beer.

Oh, hello 1980s...

The cat belongs to the superette owner and waits outside all the time but isn't allowed in.

My recent Quebec City cruise ships photo set (from a few days ago) continued with pictures of my gf's cat wearing a little cowboy hat that I bought for him, and I was this close to posting a couple of them, but I figured you guys were here to see buildings, not cats.

That little "tuxedo black" feline looks adorable

Any other crazy cat person on here?

I hope some of those West Jasper proposals go through soon so the Pearl can have some company.

The b'ys from Halifax have shown me this store before. I just assumed the pictures were old and it didn't still exist, but it does!

I went home to Calgary for Thanksgiving and took some extra time on the way for photography. Used to 2A on the way down and then spent some extra time in Red Deer on the way back up.

This is actually a fairly recent development, built within the last 10 years. One telltale sign that it's not very old is that the roofline is flat rather than stepping down with the street.

It was done as a condo development (I think the whole row is an addition onto the back of a building fronting Gottingen) and each "unit" is 2 separate stacked units. There are a few other rowhouse/condo developments like this in the area and it's kind of interesting because they very deliberately echo architectural cues from their surroundings and fit in well with the urban form, but the "original" buildings next to them look, though similar, very obviously 100+ years older. Overall it works fairly well, and Gottingen/Agricola as well as the area south of Hydrostone are starting to get the funkier stuff.

There have also been some creative approaches for providing this kind of development/unit within the context of the area's often weird lot shapes/sizes. One example is Theatre Lofts a block or two away:

The area visible through the upper "window" looks like this:
