I agree. The MAB is not the greatest building but it is inoffensive and even has a certain elegance to it. Mashing on a 2010s addition that appears completely unsympathetic to the original would ultimately cause both parts to come off looking worse.

you think these oil companies are going to go back to hiring tons of staff to increase their costs???? come on man these companies are never going to re hire all these ppl alberta increases their royalty taxes corporate taxes each year.. it doesn't even make sense for half these oil companies to operate in alberta no more.. these companies are losing money and are in saving mode from here on out.. they are going to lower production to get the value up again.. right now theres way to much oil out there to even start extracting more... the industry isn't dead but itll never be the same.. more oil is being pumped out across the globe than your gullibleness will ever know... I feel sorry for u if u think that this Is going to be the same thing as 2008 this is completely different situation... Canadian dollar goes up will hurt Calgary even more... this province is done for.. alternate sources of energy are being invested..

let the govt and banks tell the ppl that Calgary economy will recover... but it wont its the sad truth..

the oil companies know this it does not make sense for them to pay people 100000 dollar salaries when they aint making shit anymore and they wont for long time only way for them to make money is to cut staff cut production have less oil circulating so supply goes down and demand goes up

I will try to get a picture but there is a massive (and I mean massive) crawler crane being assembled at the new tower for Edgewood Estates in NK. I believe similar one used at the CMHR once the tower cranes came down.

Me and a couple co-workers are wondering what is happening here...

This is the new women's, where the rebar is, is the drive up to a loading door. What we are wondering is why:
they excavated, formed and poured the initial pad
covered the pad in a black tar
covered the tar with a black geo cloth
covered that in thick blue foam sheets
covered that in black geo cloth
covered that in rebar to be poured again

Why 2 cement pads sandwiched between thick blue foam?

Is one of the slabs heated? This is something similar to what you would do if you were installing a cooler/freezer in a grocery store or restaurant, for example.

Construction fencing is up at the sport Manitoba field house with some excavators on site

Bockstall had a big pile of construction drawings a week ago in their reception for this ready to go out I would assume
