Also, new Leger poll is out. Has Liberals at #1 in Canada, echoing Nanos. Liberals at 32%, Tories at 30%, and NDP in third at 26%. Liberals lead Atlantic Canada, and Ontario.

Quebec is an interesting race with NDP now at 28%, Liberals and Bloq tied at 24% , and Tories at 21%.

Woah!!! And Leger is a QC pollster with about a 1,000 sample size in QC. MAJOR seat losses for NDP in QC with those numbers. NDP now seems to be collapsing in QC.

Yes indeed. The head dude of Léger, Jean-Marc Léger, was on the news last night saying "wait till you see my latest poll tomorrrow!" The host couldn't get him to give up the goods.

NDP down by 10 points in Quebec. Astonishing.

I think the jig is up for the NDP across the country. The Canadian paradigm is re-establishing itself with two dominant parties on the centre-right and the centre-left, and then there is the NDP trailing in perpetual third place.........

Should be an interesting debate tonight. Mulcair has to fight back the free fall of NDP support in Quebec and needs to attack Trudeau. However, Mulcair is terrible at firing back at Trudeau, for example naming Pierre Trudeau was a mistake.

Yeah it's quite the coincidence that after 16 years of rule & tens of thousands of residents moving away that just before they got voted out they finally found the right plan.

He should stay quiet on this one, he's just fanning the flames. A lot of people outside Quebec also side with the Conservatives on this one.

Made the mistake of reading the comments section after that article. Sounds like migs and his buddies. One guy claims that 80% of Canadians support Harper and that Nenshi and those damn progressives need to just shut up. Another enlightened reader blames Nenshi for Calgary's homeless. Wow. Bottom of the barrel...

Sounds like the comment section on any CBC article except they will blame Harper as the root of all evil.

Comment sections everywhere are the homes of keyboard trolls who add absolutely nothing to an adult conversation. It is a braindead wasteland of partisan shrills or people who hate their lives.

I think a large proportion of them are unemployed alcoholics and the elderly.

Well, they really asked for it with their firm pro-niqab position... I saw this coming as soon as the issue began to surface. Not surprising at all.

They're actually lucky they still have support in the high 20s% here (which is still very decent in a FPTP system with four major parties) because it could easily continue to fall.

The Bloc will likely reap most of these voters (who are mostly ex-NPD, ex-ex-Bloc voters). If the two parties trade a few more percentage points (leaked from the NDP back to the Bloc) then we'll be at the point where we'll see a major shift in FPTP ridings won. Could happen.

As the political analyst in the JdM was saying this morning, in Anglo-Allo ridings this general crumbling of the NDP will produce a shift to the LPC as well (this time, not niqab-driven, just driven by the fall of one of the two semi-equivalent centerleft federalist parties... so indirectly niqab-driven.)

It might drive the LPC up country-wide by a noticeable fraction of a point, but it won't give them much more in terms of ridings in Quebec. (Might help the centerleft coalesce around them in other places, though.)

The reason the NDP is losing support in Quebec is the very same reason the LPC won't pick up those disgruntled leaving the NDP... the Bloc and Conservatives are the only parties with a position that could satisfy them.
