It looks like something that should be at UBC, not on one of the last empty blocks downtown! What an underwhelming piece of unsuitable pretentiousness.

Hmm. I was hoping for something much more expressive. Even a bit outlandish. This is so minimal... it's so f'n boring.

Only double? Are you serious?

Watch the architect's thoughts on the design in the Vancouver Sun video. I like what she is saying, it's an interesting concept and is very unique.

Perhaps you guys would have preferred yet another glass building?

On the positive side, it's unlike anything else in DT Vancouver.

Maybe there's some detailing that not apparent yet.

The VPL is a far better use of a full block site for a cultural site.

That is goddamn awful. And it is $50M over budget before it has even started construction. Silver lining is there is absolutely no money to pay for it, so this will sit on the drawing board for a long time.

surprisingly, Vancity buzz has some of the best reporting on this one: http://www.vancitybuzz.com/2015/09/new-vancouver-art-gallery-design/

Looks like a modern art gallery to me. The hatred in here is laughable, as usual.
