The Saudi deal will NOT be brought up by any of the leaders. Very few Canadians have ever heard of it and the politicians want to keep it that way. Also much of the work is being done in London which is a real battleground city. Right now it has the 3 London seats all split between the 3 parties and in a very close race those are precious seats. Also an attack on the deal is basically considered an attack on Ontario manufacturing which no one wants to be scene as doing.

Mulcair seems to be fighting a bit more tonight and Trudeau is holding up well but I must say this is the first debate where Harper seems a little uncomfortable and unsure of himself.

I turned off the debate because of her. I wish they would give you the option of listening to the original audio and then having it separate with translation if you want it.

All three did well. Mulcair probably came out the least best...lots of little tidbits but nothing substantive. Harper defended well. Trudeau looked competent. The real loser was the live audience who applauded, booed, and cheered at odd moments throughout. Probably the best Canadian election debate i've ever had the pleasure of watching.

Best part of the debate is when the moderator asked Trudeau how he would deal with Vladimir Putin. Audience erupted in laughter before he even answered.

They also laughed when Harper was going on about how great his environmental record was.

^Harper is the creepy uncle if you ask me.

I've noticed in the last couple of months an increase in the number of 'Stop Harper' signs up around Halifax. As for election support signs NDP is in the lead with Liberal close behind and about 10% of signs are Conservative and so far 1 Green sign. With the Conservatives running at 15% support a view like this is normal;

Haha!! Mulcair is certainly an arrogant, nasty piece of work. And that`s just not my opinion. The fella has some major personality/character flaws.

In any event, just got in a short time ago... so was not able to watch same on CPAC. But... just made it in to watch the 7 pm CTV national newscast... and I have always respected the opinion of CTV`s Bob Fife...

Fife`s take was that Harper basically held his own... but more importantly... JT was given the edge. As for Mulcair... again at the back of the bus.

Look for all of the political parties... moving forward... to begin to cannibalize existing NDP support. The log-jam has ended... and the trends, moving forward, are also now seemingly apparent.

Yet still 3 weeks out from e-day.

Although the moderator was vastly superior to the complete incompetent from the Globe & Mail debate, I still don't like the idea of playing in front of a stage. If there are to be people in the audience they should not be able to make one peep. Applause is both distracting and partisan and truly intelligent debates should be neither.

Excelllent characterization!! I agree completely.

Mulcair is now toast. The race will be between JT and Harper. I just hope NDP support doesn't sag too far. We have to keep the leftie vote split.......

Trudeau really surprised me and I feel he won the debate. I felt that Mulcair didn't do very well but wasn't terrible. Harper was just Harper. I felt he did a great job for those who like him to any extent but he certainly didn't win the average person over.

I am wondering how the revoking of Canadian citizenship issue will play within many immigrant communities. It reminds me a bit of the "foreign workers" issue in the 2011 Ontario provincial election that hurt Hudak and the PCs. Harper and Trudeau really went at it over citizenship. Trudeau took a strong stand that any Canadian, no matter how new or old or dual citizen is Canadian and should be treated the same. Harper disagrees.

One area to watch because of that issue is the Peel Region of Ontario. (includes the large Cities of Mississauga and Brampton with high percentage of immigrants) It voted entirely CPC in 2011. The region tends to vote either CPC or LPC entirely depending on the trend. It does this both federally and provincially. And that's a full 11 seats for those who are wondering. Enough to make a significant difference in the total outcome. Current predictions are showing that it will go entirely Liberal.

I can say this the Polish community in Winnipeg has no problem with them taking citizenship away but, I am pissed that im classified as a second class citizen since i am eligible for dual citizenship.

IF you do something against the law i am for stripping citizenship and deportation. With this last case (Zakaria Amara) they said its against his civil rights. F*** that he was caught can you imagine what could have happened.

If someone is intent on inhibiting the rights of others {including in the extreme example of killing} then they must face the consequences of having their own rights revoked.

Anyway, I thought Harper looked a little uncharacteristically unsure of himself. Of course the debate was on foreign relations including TPTA, the environment, and US relations all of which are no-win scenarios for Harper. He couldn't care less about the environment, the Trans-Pacific will hurt him in Quebec and Ontario, and our relationship with Obama has been very poor. It's commonly known that the two men hate each other as much as Chretien and Bush #2 did.

In foreign affairs I don't think he expected to win any hearts over to the cause and although he looked unsure of himself, he didn't make any major blunders and came out relatively unscathed.

Zakaria Amara is in prison. I believe he became Canadian when he was a child. Revoking his Canadian citizenship is just a "feel good" move for some. It really doesn't accomplish anything. He should be in prison and held there on dangerous offender or security certificates to prevent parole just like with Paul Bernardo.
