OK, now. Saputo was built in 2008. It's used only for soccer.

Why would a stadium built in 2008 solely for one sport have seats with obstructed views????

Ouate de phoque?

Billion dollar nfl stadium have obstructed views like lucas oil field. Thf has obstructed views. Its nothing new

I think that first paragraph is a little optimistic and I'm probably the biggest CFL booster here. And aside from the Riders of the East part I agree with the second paragraph.

If the Argos became the "Riders of the East" the CFL would be the most popular sports property in the country. Wish it would happen, don't think it will. If it just mimicked what happened in Montreal with it's own niche I'd be happy.

^ Not a chance that BMO will have the best atmosphere in the CFL. Not to say that it won't be vastly improved over Skydome, but let's not get carried away. I'm also not sure what bells and whistles BMO has that the other new/renovated stadiums don't.

It will have 25000 seats closer together than any other CFL stadium in the league with a canopy to keep the noise in like IGF. And one of the endzones will be seated so it will feel more like a stadium than THF or TD place. Not sure how it wont be the most intimate stadium in the league? And aside from all that BMO has everything every new CFL stadium in the league has except a roof like BC place but it also has more clubs than any other stadium in Canada and its in down town Toronto. I cannot stand a sporting event with a lame atmosphere. The difference between a Jets game and an Oilers game is intoxicating. You wait till they move in there. Better dates, better atmosphere, commited owners and a winnign team will absolutly turn this team around. Going to an Argos game will be cool again. people forget BMO only seats 5000 more fans than what they drew last year.

Would the REDBLACKS sell out the old frank claire stadium? Most likley not. It was a terrible place to watch a football game yet they have sold out every game for 2 consecutive seasons because its a party in ottawa. TD place has alot to do with that

THF has done amazing things for the ticats in terms of both attendance and atmosphere

Molson turned everything around for the als

If its worked everywhere else in eastern Canada its gonna work for a city Toronto's size. I bet in 2-3 years they are adding seats in the endzones to keep up with the demand

And any comparisons of the home dates in BMO vs RC is just pessimistic speculation. "nothing will change" I mean come on.. nobody know that. were not even sure if they will play on the same surface yet. TFC and the Argos could play in the same weekend for all we know.

Regardless this is gonna be a really intimate stadium when the canopy is on and the potential here deserves some respect. The only stadium that come close to this is TD place and the atmosphere there is ridiculous

I'm not sure I'd consider BMO Field as being within downtown Toronto. It's not even within a particularly urban context and you would have to cross the Gardiner to get to the closest bars and restaurants in Liberty Village. I'd say TD Place and BC Place are king in that regard.

well its not in an undeveloped field like IGF either 2.8 kms (20 minute walk) away from RC . A quick google search shows quite a few restaurants and bars close by it. It's really not that bad of a location.

Theres tons of bars in liberty village, less than 5 min walk from BMO. I always go for a drink before or after games at BMO. Just take the tunnel under the GO station and you're in liberty village with dozens of restaurants and bars.

Well, if the Argos could [ever???] top Rider attendance numbers, then kudos to the Argos.

Yeah yeah yeah.... I get it it's fun to disagree with 1 person as a mass. the ol "you cant sit with us" mentality this thread has. But none of you are phasing me You're either blind or stupid if you don't think BMO isn't gonna be an intimate stadium. Theirs nothing to disagree with. Its already an intimate stadium without a canopy. You guys swarm like flies! whats the point of picking it apart? Theirs not one CFL stadium in the east nor west that isn't a great atmosphere when it's full but BMO will be that one stadium that cant make it happen. either than "its not really down town" I haven't got one valid answer of why BMO wont be good for the Argos or why it won't be a great atmosphere. If you're going to add something please do but leave a reason yeah?

We're not ganging up on you, we just happen to disagree. BMO will be intimate and a big improvement over Skydome (in relation to the crowds that the Argos typically attract) but to say that the experience there will actually top Sask, Wpg, Ham, Ott, Cgy, as you have suggested it will, strikes one as very unlikely... that's all.

If you didn't post such over exaggerated shit 95% percent of the time nobody would say anything. Why do you think many people here have called you out on your posts? Look in the mirror, it's not people ganging up on you, it's some of the hyperbole you post.

The only way the Argos will have a good atmosphere is if they will get some AIS (asses in seats). I hope they do and if BellTan (sans Rogers) can work their sucker born every minute magic, they will.

The one thing I do agree with you is the potential that few seem to see in that market. Surely to God in a market that huge they can attract their loyal fanbase plus another 10k contrarian rebels who don't buy into that "big time" BS mentality.

They really have to go back to square one (like Ottawa) and blow up the old model and rebuild. It can be done but will they have the patience to do it, especially when BellTan still has to deal with MLSE (Rogers)

This has not been a particularly good year for the CFL as was last year where some chinks in the armor began to show. And after the first days of the new Commish's honeymoon news has been not as good.

At first I questioned the appointment of the new Commish and then changed my mind with all those deals in his early days but I'm beginning to go back to my original assessment and wonder if he is the right guy for the job.

He's likely the right guy to attract a new audience which may be the most pressing issue but is he the right guy to do everything else and put out some of the small fires that are now beginning to crop up.

I'm actually going to somewhat agree with you. If (and when) the new ownership group can put some consistent butts in the seats, BMO will be a great game day experience.

The roof will contribute to a great intimate atmosphere, and I agree that it will be "similar" to IGF (albeit the fan base probably won't be as loud). If the new owners can mimic the IGF experience with the pre and post game DJ, as well an announcer with decent enthusiasm, BMO has the tools to put on a great game.

I won't agree that it will rival New Mosaic or IGF, but I think the experience will be greatly improved. Watching the Toronto FC games prior to the CFL games coming on gives a good example of how "loud" BMO can sort of get.

The one thing that I hope the Argo's new ownership does is swallow their pride and actually visit several other stadiums to see what the game day experience is like. Mosaic in Regina has a "great" game day experience, however after visiting Winnipeg again this year for the Banjo Bowl, IGF has definitely turned things up. Allowing fans to tail-gate gate pre and post game in the parking lot makes the game more of a social event instead of "get to game, watch game, go home". The DJ pre/during/post game is also a nice touch. It creates a great ongoing atmosphere of party/loud/excitement. This is the perfect atmosphere for a football game. I could go on and on but I won't. I think the Argo's could really take a lesson from a few other teams and provide an incredible experience for the existing and hopefully new fans.

fair enough i can definitely over exaggerate

But on this one I'm not. I really do think the argo fans are gonna turn heads in the CFL In BMO. And bmo is gonna be a great game day experience I think it will be a mini IGF

If that happens (and I hope it does) she'll be a whole new ball game for sports positioning in Canada.

A strongly perceived Toronto would change the league. Higher viewership in Ontario, leading to larger ad revenues leading to greater overall positive perception and reporting across the league perhaps helping BC.

I'm not as optimistic as you but if a perfect storm happens like what was orchestrated and fell into place in Ottawa it could really be something.

The Argos will obviously have to assess their strengths and weaknesses. I'm not a big Argos fan so somebody please correct me but some of their strengths are a kickass band I'm always hearing about: The Argonotes their cheerleaders always seem to have a high profile (and for you Maritimers, one of them is from Moncton NB), the coaching and player management is experienced. They also (strangely enough) seem to be ahead of the curve on mentoring and producing Canadian talent. Considering all the Canadian GMs in the league, I think American GM Barker might be the first to oversee a regular Canadian (CIS) QB someday.

They really were nowhere near the dire straits Montreal was in before their move to Molson (aside from the albatross of public perception)
