Is it so heavy looking because that's where the station will be? Because otherwise, it certainly doesn't need to be; compare the elevated (heavy rail) Canada Line in Rochmond: http://is.gd/oHOwA8

Yes, that portion of elevated track will be the new Hurdman station.

I don't think this is the final design but it should look fairly similar to this.

It's definitely a lot more of a heavy-handed structure than the SkyTrain which almost appears like a monorail in comparison. The guideway-only part is 4 girders thick, and 8 (albeit thinner extra ones) where the station is. It's clearer in an earlier photo posted:

got it, thanks. I couldn't tell the first time I saw mykl's photo whether the difference was due to the station or "work in progress." I haven't been through Hurdman in a while.

Thanks as always Rocketphish for posting...

Question(s) for today... why are there TWO buildings in the Belfast Yards pic? Are Admin and Maintenance separate? If so, why the convoluted 180 to get from one into the other?

Whats up with that??

I believe one is to be used as a storage shed (the one towards the bottom left) whereas the other building is the maintenance and administration building. The trains will be traveling at a very low speed in these areas so the curved tracks are not likely to be very relevant, though I'm not sure why they did it that way.

Maintenance vs. light maintenance, storage and cleaning my bet. The heavy building would only need to be long enough for single vehicle length, while the other building you would want to be for at least married pairs.
