That is the ultimate goal - it will eventually connect to the Dover Road.

Here's the 2016 & 2017 scheduled roadwork projects for Dieppe. This is from the most recent DieppeMAG
Thanks for this!

Also of note; they will be working on the Champlain-College intersection next year (traffic lights) and then extending to Gauvin in 2017 for an eventual connection to Acadie via Alain-Gillette.

Still no work planned for Bourque in the next 2 years. It's still a rural road without any sidewalks in spite being right in the middle of the city. Reminds me of what Ryan road in the North end used to look like.

I heard on the radio this morning that a major hotel project has been approved by Dieppe city council for downtown. It will be 5 stories with underground parking. The city is subsidizing the underground parking. I didn't get the hotel brand and didn't find anything online after a quick search.

Construction is planned for next summer.

I'll try to find some more info online.

City Of Dieppe To Add Downtown Hotel And Convention Centre
Posted on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 07:42 AM

A five storey hotel and convention centre could soon rise above the City of Dieppe.

City Councillors voted in favour last night of investing at least $800, 000 for the centre that would be built near Place 1604.

It would also include underground parking.

Further details are expected to come next month.

Personal note - Interesting. This will do more than almost anything else (so far) in creating a real downtown for Dieppe. I think we're beginning to see the start of a critical mass of development in the Dieppe downtown area. I presume it will be built on one of those two vacant lots immediately adjacent to Place 1604.

Downtown hotel approved by Dieppe Council
By MNN. Last updated: 2015-09-15 07:18:40

A downtown hotel and convention centre has been approved by Dieppe City Council.

The Times and Transcript reports the five storey hotel complex by M.C. Hotels & Resorts will get at least $800,000 from the city. It's sponsoring 27 underground parking spaces and including money for landscaping in public spaces around the hotel which is going up near Place 1604. It'll take up space where the mobile stage is usually set up for public events like concerts.

Construction is expected to begin next year.

The report said the hotel will take up part of the land where the stage is usually set up for the summer concert series so I presume it will be on the empty lot facing Marché street and backing up unto the central green space. This is currently the largest empty lot downtown. This could also be a good opportunity for a restaurant as well.... Milestones or Baton Rouge would be great.

Next summer really is gearing up to be quite the construction year in greater Moncton! Nice to see things starting to turn around after a few years of really slow construction start ups.

As for downtown Dieppe; things really are starting to look up. We may be at a threshold where the critical mass of downtown workers can now support more services and perhaps a few more restaurants. Hopefully the housing market can turn around as well and we may see the large condo project next to city hall revived in the not too distant future.

The city of Dieppe Will be purchasing one of the oldest homes in the community located at 1154 Amirault St, and it will be open to the public.

Not sure what it will be used for but I can assume it will be open as a historic property to be visited by the public.

I noticed today that construction has started in the last unit at the Irving/pita pit location on the corner of Dieppe Blvd and Champlain. Word here before was a Japanese restaurant (don't remember the name). Looks like its being subdivided again. so there may be a unit left over??

Has anyone here ever heard of MC Hotels and Resorts? I can't even find anything about them online? Maybe they are a parent company?

Not Japanese; Thai. The name of the franchise is Thai Zone

Well, there is an MC Hotels & Resorts company, but I hesitate to think it's the same company involved in this Dieppe venture.

http://www.mcgrouphotels.com/en

It's a Turkish company involved in a small group of resort hotels on the Mediterranean........

Yes, I also found that website, but I didn't think it was actually this company that was involved with this project.

Here is a detailed article from CapAcadie on the project.

The contribution from the city is $800,000 just on landscaping around the building and an additional $640,000 for the underground parking and municipal incentives for the developers to push for high-density developments in the city.

So, the main takeaways from the Acadie Nouvelle article:

- This is envisioned as a replacement for the Ramada Hotel & Conference Centre at the old Crystal Palace.
- The project is backed by local investors.
- Total city contribution to the project is about $1.5M.
- Final details will be released at the end of October.
- They hope to have the facility opened in 2017 in time for the Canadian Francophonie Games.

If this is to be the replacement to the old Ramada Hotel & Conference Centre at Crystal Palace, I wonder if the branding will remain the same? Will this new hotel also be a Ramada? I wonder if the restaurant (if any) will be McGinnis Landing?

Those would both be good names to have on board for this project. McGinnis Landing is fine but I would still prefer a Baton Rouge in that spot. Any restaurant with a street front terrace on Marche would look great!

I'm wondering if Staff (Mayor, and counselors) Have a plan for the Downtown area, and if there are renderings somewhere because it seems they have change lot zoning around the downtown area in the passed few years.

I was in Harvey's today and a worker was telling me that Cara Foods purchased Chan's house and property around there They will convert it to a Swiss Chalet/Harvey's establishment. Not sure if this was previously mentioned.
