Also, Cadillac Fairview has two different styled logos. Perhaps the blue one is old?

Well that's what the marketing team's job is. You are 100% right that most people don't know what CF is, but that is also an opportunity. CF owns many of the largest and most productive shopping centres in the country, tying them together can have a strong effect on the perceived quality of them and can help differentiate what is largely seen as a homogeonous group (mall management).

It worked wonders for Westfield and I am honestly surprised it has taken others so long to change their approach.
Westfield? Who? Huh?

This just goes to our point that the market couldn't give a flying you-know-what about "CF". There's no brand equity here. Frankly, Pacific Centre could be owned by Zombie Corp. and it wouldn't change anything. Frankly, I think that CF's got too big an impression of its brand, and reputation for that matter.

(sorry to p!ss on your employer; nothing personal)

Don't forget the brand new grand entrance to the new mall extension:

Maybe someone knows whether this has since been changed.

It's not been changed, was in there late afternoon yesterday. Very odd re: the dual branding, perhaps CF will just apply one of the integrated ( CF and the centre name ) per mall.

The newer branding is more refined to me, or rather there is something distinctively "cheap" and dated about the all lower-case branding in blue. The mall is trying to define itself otherwise. Perhaps since the corner signage is a more expensive commitment, they are forging ahead with a branding change which will then be phased in to the rest of the mall. The timing of the decision could have been mid-development. There are a lot of potential explanations when you take the time to move beyond knee-jerk reactions.

I like the lower one much better. Less busy, sleeker, and the C is not like a backwards "D"

This is the one place where this should be retained as is, without the CF.
I don' think Cadillac Fairview needs to present itself once again, not here. This is the main entrance pure and simple, (but I agree with dreambrother on one point)

I agree with you on that, but I wonder if the CF could be left out of major entrances as in the picture? I just think it'd be a but too much placed there. New typeface, OK.

I just realized how much the old CF logo reminds me of part of the Future Shop logo

From Nordstrom Twitter today - Howe St. side.

Looks good.

Well, there ya go. They're filling in the rest of the sign at the Robson Granville corner with the textured panels.

After the discussion about the new/changing fonts for Pacific Centre, I was wondering if this awning was new. Then I found Locked In's picture (see at bottom) from June 15.

Sweet. More random textures. This building is the antithesis of what was there before. Not necessarily worse than before, just very different.

Actually, that grey/beige awning is old. What you see in Locked In's photo is just temporary advertising wrapped over the older grey/beige awning. You can see this using Google streetview.

Thanks. Google streetview is funny. At the moment, when you go along Granville you still see Sears, but when you switch to Georgia then the new stuff appears.

With only few days to go, are people pumped to visit the new Nordstrom? Should we expect to see long lines of people queuing to be the first through the doors? Anyone on this forum super excited to do some shopping on Nordstrom?

I am quite indifferent and will likely check out the place some time this fall. Not in any hurry to pay it a visit or shop there.

I think that describes the whole building.

Ironically, it seems the designers of this building were worried about missing an opportunity to use a texture, so they used as many as possible...

This project is like having a chef who doesn't know when to stop adding spices, leaving us with inedible results.
