Seems as logical a place as any for the prince of darkness to call home...

This POS is a new office building going on a prominent corner lot that used to have a gas station. I'd've kept the gas station.

Double points for the 'Saftey' sign.

^ God I hate buildings that try to hide what they are or otherwise try to "blend in" or "look unassuming" in their surroundings. Like, you're not fooling anyone into thinking you're a series of rowhouses. You're just not. Why would you want people to think that anyway?

Isn't it quaint? My wife said it looked like it belonged in Airdrie. I agree.

I know someone who grew up in that building and whose mom still lives there. He says it's very thuggish these days, which is saying something cause he's a bit of a thug himself.

While it's not an overly dangerous area, park ex as a whole is the very definition of sketchy imo.

Shout out to my very own office building in Montreal's west island. Spend time in this ugly bastard five days a week. Thankfully the insides are pretty nice...

I will never complain about gas stations again.

I am blown away that nobody in southern NB has blamed the tackiness of the building on official bilingualism, duality and Société des Acadiens du NB...

What's even more shocking is that it's right across the street from this:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@45.5245512,-...C4_19QBO5IokHpMB5ProA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Possibly the most contrasting (rich-poor) area in the country.

No wonder the building is not sold out. Who the fuck would want to work in such monstrosity?

ah yes, the Windsor Salt building across from Fairview Pointe-Claire, the centre/armpit of the Banlieu Ouest (West Island). I recall when it was being built...we thought, wow, something modern and glassy right here in the Waste. This was the mid eighties, and we were young.

Yep, TMR and Park-Ex, side by side. One of the wealthiest suburbs of Montreal, with one of the very poorest districts of Montreal (Park Ex frequently ranked at or near the bottom for socio-economic indicators for decades). There is this fence dividing the TMR from Park-Ex. My mom, who grew up in TMR and Westmount, told me that back in the 50s, they used to lock the gates of the fence on Halloween to keep the poor kids from trick or treating in the tonier side of town.

Passed through our Bible Belt yesterday. Terrifying place. Even the commercial buildings have that Jesus fish. And their hotel has a Noah's Ark theme.

And attempts at civilization in Come by Chance (Leave by Choice). The town has two random stretches of sidewalk.

The Jesus Fish is rancid.

It was brutal. I didn't realize I was already in it - I thought it started farther northwest of the town I was in. But I just felt this unease... everyone's hair and breasts were enormous. The houses were painted in bland colours and more spread out than normal. And it just felt... like someone was watching me. Then I passed a few "full gospel" churches and realized... shit. Then I started noticing everything. Noah's Ark hotel, Christ Child daycare, Jesus fish everywhere. When I finally got out to Happy Adventure... I never thought my gut reaction at seeing an Orange Lodge would be relief. They usually make me want to yell, "YE ALL VOTED WRONG IN '48!" out my car window. But this time... "Oh, Anglican... thank God. A nice, normal religion."
