I know I know. It just seems so terrible that these hotels' locations end up isolating their visitors from the real city and taint their experience of the place so badly. Until this trip I had always looked at the hotels by the airport in Calgary and wondered who the hell stayed at them, feeling sad and embarrassed if that was their only experience of Calgary. Now I know the truth. Cheap work travel.

If it's any consolation it now exists in every city in the world. Even the most attractive ones.

Sad but true. Yet another example of corporate culture ruining things.

Maybe he's looking to purify his soul and is just nostalgic for the simpler times of old days gone by...?

I find myself in these hotels when I miss a connecting flight at Pearson...Air Canada will often put you up in one of these hotels in distributioncentreland.

The funny part was our hotel was one of 3 that go by the name Airport Hilton Garden Inn but it took a 20 minute shuttle ride to get there from the airport.

Calgary's version of that QC castle. It was listed at 11 million about a year ago.

Isn't it awesome? Looks like it's still under construction. I am mystified by their colour and material choices. The shiny metal bands dividing each section are especially bad.

And the usual types were all like, "relax people, it isn't finished yet."
