It seems like everyone who doesn't work for TransLink thinks painting entire stations white is a terrible idea. Too bad they haven't gotten the memo - white shows every speck of dirt. The stations are going to look filthy unless they plan on cleaning them constantly.

They seem to not get a lot of memos. Either the mailman has a hole in his bag or there's an open window that keeps blowing papers into the trash.

Taking the Expo line the other day I noticed some work going on in between the stations down into the Grandview cut. Is this part of station renos or something else?

That is for the new second platform ar Broadway station connecting to Commercail to handle the increased load from evergreen line. people needing to go downtown.

I'm quite sure that's just an expansion of the concourse and not the platform construction itself.

The work in the Grandview cut is in preparation of widening the existing walkway from the Commercial station concourse down to the platforms.

This is new to me so apologies if you guys know this already, but did you know the vertical "bands" on Main Street stations (where the long curved glass facade is broken up by strips of white sandblasted glass) is used a projector for a blue/wavy lighting feature at night?

I had seen some of it from the inside of the skytrain, but not the extent of it.

I saw that the other week and had meant to go back and take a picture to post. Was that in the original plan? Anyway, I am glad they did it.

Any updates on the Main Street station work/schedule? The west station house appears to be complete, with just some exterior/paving work remaining.

west station opens on Sunday:

"As of August 16, the west side entrance to Main Street-Science World Station will open. Passengers will be able to access the station from both east and west entrances." http://www.translink.ca/en/Schedules-and-Maps/Alerts.aspx

what a 🞵🞵🞵🞵 job this has been all around. slow ... slow ... slow and poorly project managed. horrible communication. all around 🞵🞵🞵🞵 show. good like to Metrotown residents .... expect that station project to be late at least 12 months.

They must have forgotten to screw in a light bulb and had to wait for that guy who screws them in's schedule to open up.

With unionized labor, such an issue wouldn't surprise me.

At least they can say... just in time for the Fall commute!

But wow, the new entrance looks pretty sharp if you ask me.

I have only one question about all of this, though: Is Starbucks is not coming back just quite yet? Or have they moved to the other side?
