Okay .. so they spend some cash and they get , what .. a 50% increase in capacity???
Cambie corridor, Oakridge, more traffic to the airport when the Broadway line gets built and Metro Vancouver - out to Coquitlam and Surrey - uses the RR to get to the airport instead of a car/taxi, and so on.
We have a foreshadowing of what is to come when Riverfront got RR transit and 15,000 people a week go out there from downtown because they can — and get drunk and get home.
Everyone thinks that transit is one way but in Vancouver, it looks more like two way than in most places.
The 50% increase in capacity will get sucked up the day it opens.
So ... I predict (as a result of my lunatic dreams) that a second north south line will be planned and built one day.
My prediction as to where ... from south of the Fraser, along Knight street, over the north arm, and then through the Broadway/Commercial node, through Main Street and then, in some way, to the north Shore at Lower Lonsdale (and maybe to a bus exchange on the upper levels at Lonsdale).
The planners will build it too small, of course.
