I keep hearing this sentiment on these boards, and I couldn't disagree more.
Smaller lots break-up the monotony of large new developments, creating a more varied, active streetscape. Think about how much more interesting the Telus Garden block of Richards will be thanks to the presence of the Kingston Hotel.
In this case, we're not getting a particularly interesting building on the small lot, which is a shame, since I've seen 9-10 storey buildings on similarly narrow lots in a streetwall.
