AUSTIN | Project Updates Thread Part II

St. David's has grown a bit too "organically" for my tastes with too many low rise buildings and too many different parking structures. The signage is terrible, and there are multiple entities operating on the campus. I had an 8AM appointment today in the Park Plaza building. Of course, I went to the wrong building and parked in the wrong garage. The receptionist told me that it happens all the time. I was there for heart monitoring, and my blood pressure was already way up there when I finally got to the right place. They put me on a treadmill (cardiac stress test) facing out with a great view of the UT campus area. There are so many cranes up around there right now. It looked very impressive. I should have taken a picture.

Well, looks like I was wrong. We're moving to 600 Congress. I figured it was one of the two. I'm probably more excited about this, though. I hope it's high up. I like being in taller buildings.

From 600 Congress you should have a good view of the Aloft construction. We expect photos.

Does anyone know what's planned for the NE corner of 25th and Nueces? There's an excavator on site and a hole that's a few feet deep now. The 4-plex in the background is also fenced off.

2500-2525 Nueces Street - Please provide plan describing proposed work. ijl 08/13/15 Tying onto existing 12inch water main in south bound lane of traffic with a new 6inch water line going into property on east side of road. Ditch will be 30feet long and 2.5feet wide in the road. Also installing a new waste water manhole in lane closest to property and running service in. Ditch will be 10feet out into road and 8feet wide.

Is it just me or does it seem like the apartments under construction at Congress and Riverside (Broadstone?) seems stuck in neutral? I haven't looked up close but I noticed when out running yesterday that it does not seem to have progressed from where it was a several months ago. Didn't it start construction when Catherine was just a few floors out of the ground? Catherine has been done for a while now and this one still isn't even close.

I drive by that thing every day going to work, and there has been very little activity for a long time.

EDIT: And I wish they would finish it already not because it is an awesome project which it is not, but because one lane of Riverside has been closed to traffic to provide a temporary sidewalk.

I passed by again last night and there's actually more to this. A sign was set in place and they're expanding the fraternity by adding a new building.

To elaborate a little, here's what they're planning at 25th/Nueces. I believe the top image is more accurate/recent, but I'll try to dig up more details (it's my fraternity but I didn't go to UT so I'm a little limited on info)

To elaborate a little, here's what they're planning at 25th/Nueces. I believe the top image is more accurate/recent, but I'll try to dig up more details (it's my fraternity but I didn't go to UT so I'm a little limited on info)








The second pic looks more accurate to me. The existing building (on San Antonio) extends the length of the block. My understanding when they built this condo (town home) building 15 years ago, was they would complete the project with a twin building on Nueces at some point.

Guess what...SKW took that link down on the SA sub forum (without any private message as to why). I think it is an important topic to discuss - considering we are closing in on the completion of a $325+ million expansion of our convention center; recently completed a several million dollar renovation to the airport; and are about to begin construction of a $150+ million consolidated rental car facility.

Oh well, what's new?!? Kevin, why is he a MOD again?
