While they're at it, I hope they do something about lighting up the front of the building especially the regal lions. That place is gloom-and-doom city right now.

I know the fountain has a history, but I won't have been upset if they had accidentally removed it.

I wonder whats going to happen along the side of the building there. That would be a great patio space for a bar/resto.

Same here. It just somehow is no longer "right" for that location, IMO. Donate it to a hospital grounds, or perhaps a park? .....

Yeah I have always loved the colours and pattern in the fountain, I was hoping it would be restored one day. Sad to see another rare piece of artistic dynamism removed from downtown.

Does anyone know what year it was installed and who the artist was who did the tiling and sculpture?

The article doesn't really tell us anything new. I remember hearing that it will be put into storage for now and reinstalled somewhere else in the future

Looks like the pavers are just for the vehicle access.
Maybe they'll put sod on the dirt (or is that mulch?)
If it's new mulch it might get kinda soupy on a rainy day.

It's mulch. A very thick layer. I'm presuming they'll just get it back to the way it was before.

The new mulch will be really soft.

- on the SOUTH side of the Art Gallery, here are UBC Robson Square's revised plans for new entries to the existing space - October 8, 2015.
Note sure if the pagodas are staying with peaked roofs or being replaced:

Nice! It looks a little more like a plaza or square you would see in Europe or South America.
