Yeah, I drove by earlier and it looked quite a bit more transparent than I was expecting it to be...which is awesome.

You beat me to it. I saw a truck heading up 6th Ave with a bunch of curved glass and suspected it was heading to Brookfield.

what is the purpose of using curved glass on the flat side of a building?

Wide arcing curves can be achieved with flat panels. In this cas3, a curved panel was the only option for the corner.

Yeah the glass looks very clear and flat. Very little distortion. It looks beautiful. Looks like they just about have all the glass loaded for floor four. There was also a core jump today! And steel is only three floors below the formwork.

This tower is going to exceed all of my (admittedly rather low) expectations for it.

now this is making sense...
the curved glass is being used on the corners because the corners themselves are curved.
the rest of the glass on the building is flat (as normal)

I bet the european curtain wall supplier is from Permasteelisa as one of their advanced curtain wall factories are in Germany. They did several supertalls like The Shard, ICC, Walkie Talkie etc. so I wouldn't be surprised if they are the ones doing the tower including the curved curtain wall for the Brookfield Place. IMO they are the best curtainwall builders in the world. They apparently have subsidiaries that build various specialized glazing systems too.

The atrium has a separate glazing system, not sure who is providing though but i think it is a nice seamless wall of structural glazing on some kind of point load system. Maybe Pilkington or even the same guys if they also do atrium walls. Will have to check their impressive website again.

Ooh, so the most potential glass supplier for Brookfield did the glass for ICC? Neat
