But as for Grant Park, yeah, there's no way that renovation would have happened without Target. There were pretty high hopes for Target, but I guess a lot of landlords made bad bets on them. I don't think anyone expected it to turn out that badly. I guess the reno guarantees Grant Park's continued existence for at least the next 20 years.
Yeah very true. The theatre renos should help a bit... but when McNally becomes unviable in 5-10 years... god help them. They really should build residential on the corners.

A family member works at The Bay Polo and said head office has been there a lot lately, and they've really been cleaning up the store. I have to agree, been shopping there more lately and I'm a young fashion-conscious male haha. They've had some great stuff (and great sales) in there lately, and have gotten rid of a lot of clutter and old stock. She said the rumblings are that they are near the top of Lord & Taylor HQ's list of store to be reno'd. Topman has gone into all of the new concepts stores... so there's a good chance it will happen here. We are sorely lacking nice mid-upper-level mens fashion in Winnipeg, so it'd be great. Club Monaco not carrying mens sucks, that's why I want a Zara. Nice clothes at a good price. Although they do ship and return for free.

I've never had this issue and I use it all the time. You just have have to look at the vendor rating and how many items they've shipped.

I generally try and use Amazon as the seller but the times I've used a third party, I do exactly as you say. Go with someone with a high rating and you generally dont have an issue. The gf had a couple of issues over the years and the sellers with high ratings will always work hard to rectify/refund.

Amazon is great

Yeah, I bought something last week from a third party and they emailed me on their own (as well as Amazon) to say it had shipped and to contact them if I have any questions or concerns when my package arrives... And it was a $20 phone case.

If Amazon Prime in Canada included the Netflix-like video service they would get all my money for everything. But I signed up for Amazon Student, even though I'm not a student and it worked. Free Prime for 6 months

Is 4.8 stars out of 1522 ratings considered good? This is the first order that has not come in on time (its already 2 working days late).

As it appears that it is being shipped from the US I was going to give the vendor until Friday afternoon's mail delivery the benefit of thinking that its being delayed in Customs or the Mail before I contact them.

I did get an email asking for feedback on Friday which was suppose to be the latest delivery date.

Zara would be nice, but I really hope J. Crew makes its way to Winnipeg within the next decade, and not just their factory outlet. With Anthropology and Banana Republic in Polo Park, I could see J. Crew doing well if those two are doing well also.

If I recall, shipments can sometimes get geld at customs. Which isnt the sellers fault. So I'd give it some time and assume customs is the issue. After a week, I'd email the seller and ask for an update/re-send/refund

Zara would be great, along with All Saints and White House/Black Market. And of course I long for Simons...

Actually I just received another email from Amazon today saying that their shipping notice from July 20 has been amended and the product actually shipped today 9Aug 11) and now has a tracking number.

Not sure why they sent the first notice out unless they do it automatically figuring the vendor ships that fast.

As I am new to using Amazon, I don't know if this would encourage me to do more buying once I run of the Gift Cards I received for doing a survey. Order was put in July 19, shipped Aug 11 and may be here in what 2 weeks.

I could go to a brick and mortar store and if its in stock have it the same day for about the same price by time I include shipping etc.

I would say 99% of my Amazon.ca/Amazon.com purchases are always shipped by Amazon. I place an order on Sunday or Monday and usually get it by Thursday/Friday of that same week, using the free shipping method (Amazon.ca)

I've had one problem with a Amazon third party, over a month late, said it was lost by UPS, got a refund by contacting Amazon (they have great customer service), and eventually UPS delievered the package, so it was technically free, shh don't tell anyone!

I'm not crazy about online shopping... I find the delivery system is really lacking, the courier companies are really still set up to handle B2B as opposed to delivery right to consumers. Unless you're home all the time to receive packages, it can be a real pain... many of the courier companies operate on bankers hours in case you need to drive out to pick something up, and plus you get hit sometimes with the surprise brokerage fees, etc. And then there are the brutal shipping fees from the many non-Canadian online retailers.

As a result I rarely do it, unless I am looking for an item that I'm not sure where to find locally.

Not to mention that, for better or worse, most of the courier companies just leave your package on the front step, between the doors, or wherever else is convenient for them. Outside of Canada Post, it's rare that an unanswered door leads to undelivered package these days.

Ugh, tell that to UPS, FedEx and Purloator because I've been to each of their depots in recent months to pick things up. Just yesterday Canada Post (delivering a USPS parcel) finally left a package at my doorstep which was great. It's reasonably private and behind a gate so I don't know why the others are so hesitant to do that.

I've tried using the UPS system to redirect packages to convenient UPS Store locations, but there always seems to be a reason why they can't...

You need my guy. Twice in two days - today and yesterday - the UPS guy left things without even attempting to see whether anybody was home.

Funnily enough, a couple weeks ago I watched from my bay window as the Canada Post carrier walked up to my door - without the package! - and just left a note saying they attempted to deliver with no luck. Naturally I ended up having to walk back with him to the truck to get the package.

I think it's really dependent on how lazy the driver is that particular day. I'm not even sure there's a policy that directs this.

Maddening... it has happened to me too on a couple of occasions. Walked out of the house just to find a note on my door and the UPS truck pulling away.
