Been walking by everyday for weeks and finally remembered to post about it - the Galpern building is making a fair bit of progress. They are done cutting out the window openings on the east side, and they've started putting in the glass. Looking through the openings a great deal of framing has been completed, and they are taking in a truckload of gypsum board today.

^ It's nice to see this project coming to fruition... that block of McDermot was lagging behind its potential, and this will help to change that.

Have plans for the building next door (to the west) been announced? It looks like work has been ongoing in there too.

It's amazing that they took a blank wall, and cut in all those windows.

It looks great IMO. Lots of work - but the end product looks like it was built that way.

"The monthly rental rate will be between $1,000 and $1,150."

Hey, 160 Smith charges that much per month. I'd rather live there if given a choice.

Still no plans for a supermarket/grocery store in the Exchange.

I'm guessing that Galpern and the building next door is being done by the same developer, or they have an encrouchment agreement -- from my office I can see they added a rooftop patio to the building next door (sorry, I don't know the name) that egresses from the Galpern building. I originally thought it was just a fire exit, but they are adding a patio.

Torque brewing's address is listed at 194 Sherbrook street, which is where Syverson Monteyne is now... anyone heard anything about this?

Any guesses what will replace the recently SOLD Osborne Village Inn?
Do you think it will become a multi purpose retail/ hotel/ office complex or simply a medium sized moderate to slightly upscale hotel such as a Marriott, Sheraton or similar?

^ Thanks for that... that would be just great for that area.

One thing that would make it even better is commercial units right along the Maryland St. frontage, but I recognize that Maryland probably isn't a busy enough commercial strip to fill that much space...
