Never once heard those things. MLSE has spent close to $100 million on the ACC since it opened it is without a doubt up to the standard of any arena built or being built. It is also the pioneer of all these copycat arenas trying to replicate Maple Leaf Square and the condos/entertainment areas surrounding it.

Maple leaf sqaure isn't the ACC and the ACC isnt MLSE.

MLSE were the pioneer's of maple leaf square not the ACC.

^ Ummm... not sure how shots of the arena interiors have anything to do with Maple Leaf Square.

I don't get the hate for the ACC.
I've been to it numerous times and it's a cozy 18,000 seat arena. No problems with the sight-lines and never felt cramped in the seats. The concourse probably could be a bit wider/larger - but it's not horribly tight either. The private boxes are also great.

The ACC usually ranks in the top 10 NHL arena rankings.

OMG...I'll have 2 of whatever you guy's are on. ACC ranked 15th in stadium journeys rankings last year and even lower the year before and is almost ALWAYS bottom 10 in arena rankings. Im not saying it's a bad building but to put it on a pedestal and refer to it as on a level of it's own is just rediculous

You went from mentioning that it's the worst designed building in the league to stating it ranked 15th last year - quite a difference. And the previous years don't mean anything as it seems to be improving as MLSE keeps investing more money into it.

When I said it was on a different level I meant in comparison to Rogers Arena. The ACC holds its own with any of the new or UC arenas in NA.

Who are all these copycat arenas? Edmonton you can say is trying to build a Toronto style arena district. Vancouver's been at it for awhile, maybe even before Toronto. Ultimately though, I think it is MSG that is the inspiration for arena districts.

Thing with the ACC is it's jammed between a large railyard and the expressway. It will always be somewhat isolated feeling. Rogers Arena will have development at much closer quarters which in the end may give it a better urban vibe (as a comparison between "entertainment districts" and not the arena's themselves).

you could be right. It's no secret media types have trashed the ACC , we were actually discussing that on this thread a couple weeks ago. And again let me state it yet again. I'm not saying the ACC is a bad building but it should never be referred to as in a league of it's own or on a different level. I've been to every major rink in Canada expect Rogers,1st Ontario and CTC. And The ACC hasn't got the best sight lines. it's really cramped and really congested. It also loses point's for having an extremely tacky look to it. Like the dude with bumper stickers and monster decals on his back window the ACC is way to busy with advertisements and crap all over it.

Nah. Sorry dude rogers arena is on the same level as the ACC that 400 level is beautiful. until this off season it had the same quality of scoreboard and is now seeing huge investments on the exterior. The building itself lacks nothing that the ACC has.

The ACC itself is actually quite basic even for it's age. I'm not sure where you get off saying it's in a different level than rogers arena

The ACC is 200,000 Sq feet larger than Rogers Arena. Does bigger always mean better? Nope. But in this case they were both built in tight areas so it definitely does. Also, adjusted for inflation, the ACC cost $100 million more to build plus has seen close to $100 million in improvements since opening. I know Rogers Arena has seen improvements also but not anywhere near $100 million. So add that up almost $200 million more of investment in the ACC. Brings me to my next point. The construction/upgrade costs of $450 million (2015 dollars) puts the ACC right in line with the new arena in Edmonton.

Not sure when you last visited the ACC but they've basically done some kind of major upgrade every year for the past few years. This year is the scoreboard and MLSE does not cheap out.

There is so much flawed logic here It's not even funny. 5 years (1993 and 1997 ground breaking) makes a big difference in arena pricing and MLSE added huge money to Change the overall design when they bought the building half way through it's construction to host the leafs. But Why am I even arguing with you. This is typical leaf fan behavior if they played in rogers arena that then it would be in a level of it's own and the ACC would be lacking. And you cant say "and the seats are getting replaced" because every arenas seats will eventually be getting replaced.

Again the ACC is a great building but It's cramped and quite basic. In fact very basic when stacked up against let's say ...xcel energy center built 3 years later

Yes MSG is among the top NHL arenas you didn't educate nor shock anyone back there. I'm sure everyone here is well aware of the Renovations to MSG. However with that being said...
