One of the reasons the tower is designed the way it is, is due to the inexperience of the Stantec design firm when it comes to high rise mixed use type of projects. At least here in Alberta this is their first real skyscraper project and with very limited expertise in executing such types, they are playing safe by designing VERY conservative.
Perhaps their best office project in the region has to be the WestJet campus at the airport, or maybe Opus on 8th hahaha..
So one can assume to not expect anything ground breaking for some time until they get more towers in their portfolio where eventually they will loosen up and explore newer and creative ways. Their offices in other cities however do have some office tower expertise but I believe each office is like their own individual firms, though I believe staffing for this project were just their Edmonton office with some peeps from yyc helping out I guess.

They being an anchor tenant could perhaps demand a better design to their new digs towards the developer of the project. Unless Stantec is playing the role of the developer/owner for the tower portion which would be a far cry from the likes of Encana or Telus having their direct input to their new offices resulting in the masterpieces we all know today.

Back to Brookfield, it is starting to show in various viewing pockets within our downtown, even from Olympic Plaza. I too hope they can maybe sneek in some element post construction which may get counted into its overall height.

Had a lot of driving around the city with work this week. I can now see Brookfield from Chinook Mall area as well as Max Bell Arena, and the cranes from Briar Hill area.

Great news, now we wait and see if the glass colour is closer to the renderings than say City Centre was.

If you grew up in Canada in the 70's and 80's and maybe later, you would recognize the quote from "Friendly Giant" television show.
If I remember, you did not grow up in Canada. Your loss for not knowing Rusty or Jerome.

Or maybe he didn't grow up during that time or didn't watch TV.
