Modera is the name attached to many of Mill Creek's apartments around the country similar to Broadstone for Alliance Res. or Alexan for Trammell Crow. They've slowly but steadily built their Denver portfolio starting with Heritage Creek in Glendale and then The Douglas and The Casey in downtown. In addition to this project they've also announced a 6-story in RiNo for a year end start. While nothing particularly special, each project has been different and generally attractive.

According to Ben Miller's DBJ article TripAdvisor.com rates highly both Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs and the Denver Zoo. FodorsTravel.com also recently rated the Denver Zoo one of the Top Ten.

The Denver Zoo is especially popular with children (of all ages). We need to think of the children (of all ages).

There were quite a few people doing soil sampling on the site this morning. There are survey markings around the site as well.

I think that building is pretty ugly, but to each their own. Not a huge loss for Orlando imho

Credits to Justin at Denver Urban Review for his interview with Spencer Stuart Jr. of Legacy Partners on their planned project on Speer south of 14th. Currently planned as a 7-story with five stories of apartments over two stories of parking.

Downtown Orlando could use people more than Denver could no matter what the buildings look like.

But yeah.. it's ugly.. because everything is ugly by default. And the rendering is definitely ugly. It has about as much relation to reality as a Disney Animation cell. Having said that, it looks like it will fit in with everything that's already in Orlando. Not sure I would call Orlando architecture ugly.. but it certainly isn't the same as Colorado's.

I know of a development also within Lake Eola that the community tried to stop.. but it was approved pretty easily on review last week. Apparently progress matters to the deep south more than the enlightened Interior West.

That renovation of the brick warehouse in Sun Valley looks awesome! That area has quite a few nice old buildings, including the Ironworks building, that will make a great heart of the neighborhood. Loads of potential.

The base for the Kimpton Hotel crane sat for a couple of months whilst most of the excavations took place so perhaps it will be the same here. It is a rather shabby red base so I am not sure that Ryan will be impressed.

Justin at Denver Urban Review posted a rendering of Southern Land's LoHi apartment project at 18th and Central with the caveat that there could still be exterior design changes. This is at the old Mile High United Way site.

Sorry, I just don't see it. This design does a far better job of blending in with the airport; for instance, the glass actually matches, which is something that was important IMO. The orginal design didn't even consider the airport asides from the soaring wing motif.

Calatrava's was another over-budget, unrealistic, starchitect, pos. Even this one is excessive for what it needed to do: a) house guests and b) take a blast from a bomber coming in via train. The old Westin design from the early 90's was probably the best one for an airport hotel.
