The renders and model all indicate a fussy, messy design. Good materials won't change that.

No expense was spared for Fairmont Pacific Rim, yet I hate that project now just as much as when it was just a render.

IIRC it's approved but there's no forum suffix for approved.

If its roots aren't too extensive or deep, maybe it could be replanted somewhere. Unlikely, yes, but still a possibility.

At first I wasn't sure if they were demolishing the old car dealership or renovating it into a sales centre. My guess now is the latter.

Damn, that looks sweet! I think this building will have one of the best long-lasting open views from the top floors.

I hope they will go with a darker spandrel color.

^^Thanks. This render gives me more confidence in the end result. Liking the true floor-to-ceiling windows on the southwest facade. I know what they're going for, but I wish they would continue with the black mullions on the "cheaper" side.

Personally I think black mullions can make a huge difference on a number of buildings. I'm no architect but to me they are a simple detail that can make a building look higher-end and even help the building to age better, especially typical Vancouver designs.

Also, I clicked on the website... are they now calling this "One Burrard Place" as opposed to "Skyfront at Burrard Place"?

The floor to ceiling glass on the grid side looks good. The glass on the other side looks okay too.

The thickness of the grid looks to be narrower than previously depicted - they just look like ledges and partitions now.

This building will absolutely tower over you as you drive in to downtown over the Granville bridge. will appear larger then it actually is

That tree looks quite healthy, especially for one growing in the downtown core, it would have been kinda neat and unexpected if they had left those 2 houses in place with the tree and restored as a little snapshot of the first incarnation of that part of the city. They look like they were built on spec. As many houses downtown were built as such, you could fit several family size units in those two houses.
