I have no earthly idea what those things could be. Tis baffling. We shall see, I guess. My only thought is that maybe they're a remnant of the old airport and they're going to demolish them eventually.

They are manholes that have not been adjusted to the new grade yet. They are probably electrical and they are waiting for Austin Energy to come out to do it.

The southern portion of Berkman is prepped for paving and should be paved this week up to Zach Scott. I'm assuming it'll be open for traffic by the middle of the month.

I went to the 51st Street Improvement Project meeting last night and got some good information on the project's progress from some folks from the City, Catellus and McCann-Adams. They have finished the Preliminary Engineering Report which has a lot of really good ideas. Here is a summary of that report.
I especially like that there will be separated cycle tracks the whole length of 51st between I-35 and Berkman, along with the Dutch-style intersection treatments at major intersections.An engineer from the Public Works Department did mention, however, that the plan as envisioned will cost about twice as much as they currently have set aside from the 2012 Bond. So not all of this will get built at once.

I also rode my bike around Mueller afterwards to see some of the progress.

And my personal favorite, the Food Forrest along Manor Road. Looks like there is some citrus already growing on those trees...

Those look like Loquat trees. Not citrus, but an apparently tasty subtropical fruit. I have hundreds of them on a tree in my yard that I'm waiting to try once when they ripen.

Hey y'all, so I'm headed out of the country tomorrow for about a month and I was wondering if someone could take a moment sometime between 15 August and 21 August to drive through and check on the Aldrich–Robert Browning extension and what appears to be the Berkman, Nitschke, and Vaughan north to Simond. Let me know if they're paved.

Great, thanks, I will definitely try to remind you. Google Mapmaker is coming online again next month and there's so much that needs to be updated for Mueller, and failing that I'd like to get Open Street Map updated around Mueller

Hope it's okay to first-post here. I just moved out to Mueller and hopefully can provide some visual and descriptive updates to y'all going forward. Here's a few snaps I caught this week on my way home from work. I'll try to get better photos when I get a chance.

If you have any requests for specific updates around here, feel free to let me know!

1. Construction is ramping up at the site for Alamo Drafthouse. Finally moving from roadway to actual site work.

2. Earthmovers are scraping out the land NW of Garcia St and Berkman Dr near HEB/Torchy's/etc. According to the Master Plan, it supposed to be multi-family housing going there.

Nice! We have our own Mueller person now! Thanks. It was easy for me to get out there when I worked around there but now that I work downtown and take the train it's a little harder.

Personally, I'm interested in construction of the new Drafthouse and, really, just whatever new is happening over there.

Nothing fun and exciting at the moment for Drafthouse. This is the current condition (by the Thinkery garage looking north. You can see the AISD "redhat" building in the background):

There's also this thing. Does anyone know wtf this is for?

Aside from that, since I live in the AMLI, here's a few updates on the final pieces of construction here. The 'Paseo', as they like to call it, is finally making progress as they are pouring concrete to create the main passthru.

Unfortunately, no visible progress on the 1st-floor retail at AMLI. So far, it's supposed to be an Italian place, L'Oca D'Oro, and Bribery Bakery. Plus, I think there's also room for a small 3rd retailer between the two.

Hey jbssfelix, welcome to the forum and thanks for posting the pictures.

That large suspended tank is either for storing water or maybe fuel. I'm sure someone can clairify the specifics. You can see the pipe connected to it hanging down at the end there.

Well there might be two to update on Mueller as I put in an app for Mosaic, hoping it goes through. I looked at AMLI but I am not a studio type of person and the others were a little to high for me right now. Crossing fingers!

Mosaic was very nice when we toured it. Our only gripes were its proximity to busy Airport Blvd and the fact that our last house (in Indianapolis) was across the street from a busy fire/EMS station. We said 'never again' when we moved out so it kinda killed Mosaic, lol. But good luck with the app, and maybe I'll see you 'round!

Well it is nice, I've never lived in such a complex so it will be new to me. Mosiac "said" that the fire/ems don't turn on the sirens until they are out to Airport Blvd now. My unit will be facing Ragsdale St so I sure hope they did not lie on that one. They said the fire/ems have learned and been asked to do that since Mueller is no longer an airport and its now mostly residential. I have had to sleep with ear plugs because of barking dogs before so I can do it again I guess. It's only a year so i can move again if need be.

The tank is for water for construction use, not fuel. It's likely attached to that hydrant in the pic above it, if not then some other hydrant.
