Apparently it's reopening in a few weeks. The tj is reporting that there is a new sign on the door......

Not surprised at all. The ownership was not very good at all.
I am actually happy they are gone!
Hate to break it to you, Mr. Misery - but there's an updated sign on the door now saying it will be opening again in a couple weeks.

Yes, good to see - wonder if it's new ownership?

Sad for the resturant and staff but not the owner.
Corporate ownership taking over.

CBC Article on the closure

Employees were left unpaid and were not informed. The owner and the corp he ran are unreachable; the phones have been disconnected.

Sounds like the owner just dumped an ran. Hopefully the new people stepping in aren't stained too bad by the old owner. And hopefully they didn't pay too much for it. (Frankly I hope ESM comes out and say they took the restaurant from him and sold it to another group so that old owner doesn't get a dime out of it)

I hear there is a "for lease" sign in the Birks window - closing?

Noticed RCS Construction working away in the former Tweed & Hickory location today. Anybody have any idea what's going in there? It's a fairly large spot. So hopefully it's something new to market.

East Side Marios will re open as a corporate location until they find a new Franchisee.
The last owner raped all he could and ran.

Hopefully Corporate is taking care of most of the old employees too; that would help mend any bridges the old owner burned with the cut and run act. If word spreads that many of them got their jobs back, that will go a long way to restoring good will with the brand.

I believe this is not the place to slander the previous owner of East Side Marios. Unless people know for a fact that something happened they should not be voicing these opinions here. So, unless you were actually employed there or know the 17 year old waitress who the CBC interviewed I would encourage that certain post either be deleted or edited.

I agree with you there is way too much of that on these types of boards. I for one use this handle for everything. I never assume anything.

Good morning folks - new to this forum, and my first post! Love Saint John, all areas - West side is home, love shopping and eating, and seeing our fair city grow and prosper

I saw some work going on in Rothesay at the old St hubert location - TJ says to check the website for details but I can't find anything (probably my wifi, still feels like dial up...). Can somebody fill me in?

The place isn't big enough for a Papa Johns / Pita Pit / Dental Office combo.
