you like to drop by and make comparisons in here about once every 6 months or so, and it's kind of annoying, so i can completely understand why people reply in a defensive manner.

just let atlanta be atlanta, it is still coming into it's own as a city and you really are just trolling at this point.

the truth hurts, guys, but simms3_redux (i'm sure his parents got odd looks requesting that one on the birth certificate) is correct. the central business district of atlanta is huge and has tons of undeveloped space. it is nowhere as developed as downtown seattle; not even close. we're not anywhere close to having to tear down any historic neighbourhoods, not even "tha bluff".

i thought his post was on point and a good response to the nuts in this thread wanting to mow down historic neighbourhoods, like they think adding more empty blocks to our total is better than preserving the remaining history we have in this city.

Lets don't turn this into City-Data.com.

This is being blown out of proportion. One person said to "take a wrecking ball" to Home Park. This was said somewhat tounge-in-cheek. Simms took it as an opportunity to lecture everyone on how Atlanta isn't Seattle, SF, etc.

Simms does seem to constantly make comparisons between Atlanta and one of his famed cities: SF, Seattle, Boston and trouble always seems to be on the horizon when he does post on this thread. Where there's smoke, there's fire. I don't see him do it to any other city but Atlanta, yet constantly says everyone in here has an inferior complex or are "too sensitive". Just come in here and talk about projects/construction in Atlanta or don't post. Stop lecturing us about how much better SF or Seattle is.

Anyways, back to development. Is anyone going to the Midtown DRC meeting this evening? Sounds like it's going to be a big one. I'm excited to see what's in store for Midtown next.

Thr buildings just south of the CookOut on Northside are being demo'd. Any news on what's going here or on the other closed/fenced lots nearby, or is it dafe to assume more fast food (ahem, relocated Checkers from 10th and Spring)?

I have an appointment in the same building and if we finish up in time I plan to stop by.

ChikFilA announced plans for that site last December.

Thanks for the reply! On my way back I noticed that I had walked right by the sign saying this. The lot may have room for more than one business because they're tearing down the building nextdoor too. Nice gaving a drive-thru alternative to the Collier branch and the walk-up one in Colony Square.

I believe the whole site is just Chik-fil-a. I think it's a bit shortsighted because Northside should be treated more like a multi-modal transit corridor rather than a dangerous highway. Drive-throughs and parking lots are the very last thing this corridor needs if the Westside is going to connect to Midtown/Ga Tech better.

Heaven forbid the increase in crashes because of left-hand turns across 3 lanes of Northside traffic.

I agree that it needs to be multi-modal: I walk through there for lunch, and that median doesn't keep cars from cutting across and nearly hitting peds. I wouldn't mind another 10side on that strip and more consideration for bikes.

Looks great! Much better than that High Performance Center Portman proposed.
And just speculating here, but I'd imagine this will be about 1.5x the height of the newly built student towers next to it so this should make quite an impact.
