I feel obliged to give folks a pass on that look IF the sandals are Birkenstocks, but otherwise it's just too Bulgarian displaced person for my tastes.

Don't the socks defeat the purpose of the sandals? I don't get it.

Friday Fuglies

Took a tour through Calgary's Quarry Park this afternoon and snapped some shots.

A failed restaurant called Colonial Fusion being renovated for whatever it's replacement will be. The poetic symbolism in this one is off the charts.

"Luxury" condos. I took this in the most flattering light of a grey and stormy day. On sunny days the mustard stucco and the tin hat roof will blind you.

Empty lot behind it.

Dollarama.

Happened to see this house flying the Confederate flag in Bowness this afternoon. No big deal...

We can only hope.

Discussing this in the proposals thread as an example of a development ruined by NIMBY's. Thought it was worth a re-post in here. St. John's on 10th was named after a church that formerly occupied the sight but burned down (iirc). It sat as a gravel lot for years. It is across the street from a Safeway and an lrt station in one of the most visible corners in the community. What a terrible disappointment.

That Dollarama is actually situated in a separate strip mall elsewhere in Quarry Park. That tin hatted POS doesn't have retail in the podium. Not sure what now occupies the retail bays of St. John's on 10th in Kensington though.

It's a gigantic step up from Payday Loans.

Has this one been posted yet? The gaping maw at the top will eat up all the hammers from Reno-Depot. It will get you.

Sauron'sRectum

Check out the fugly entrance overhang. The cyclops-clock-eye. The incredibly broad shoulders, NFL style. As big as life and twice (Thrice?) as Ugly.

That's what you think. In reality it was designed by Zul from Ghostbusters to harvest the souls of the living and help him return to earth.

I believe they will be filming the finale for the new Ghostbusters movie atop the Résidences Soleil in Laval. Great choice!

Is the Laval clock tower the Nickelback of architecture?
