City started putting up all new lighting/signage on Academy pretty much from Waverly to Route 90. Design that I haven't seen anywhere yet.

Some pretty exciting news in today's Free Press about planned changes in store for the Manitoba Museum... the highlights include a revamping of the existing facility, and a new science gallery component for the surface parking lot to the north.

Judging from this rendering which I presume is conceptual and subject to change, it looks like the "new" Manitoba Museum should help to animate Main Street a bit more than it currently does:

I am so happy that there is a plan to expand the Manitoba Museum. It is a very nice museum My uncle from overseas was impressed during his visit. (He is a professor of history). The museum does have a large collection that we rarely get to see. What is on display is just the tip of the iceberg. Along with the Alloway hall expansion for traveling exhibits, I hope that more space will be added to display the museum's collection. The rendering does look very nice. I also hope that stretch of Main will also get to see the pedestrian traffic that is portrayed in the render.

I visited the museum last year. Not much has changed since going through in with school field trips in the 80's. It's long due for a revamp. Let's hope the science centre gets built on that lot. A double win. Article says that's still a decade away unfortunately.

It's not really much of a terminal... is there even any infrastructure associated with it? I can't imagine it would be much trouble to move it a block or two over.

thats true if they do move it over they should at least make the road bus only and put in a comfort station. Cause as is right now buses, cars and people parking and museum traffic don't mix well.

Most definitely true, however at least Preet has some tact. While they both have screwed a lot of people around, the old man is definitely just as ignorant and by far the more insolent of the two.

The Manitoba Museum rendering appears to show Rupert Ave closed to vehicles east of Main St with some sort of pedestrian corridor/green space taking its place. It is also interesting how this project is planning to plant a number of large trees in the Main St median near their location.

Yeah I noticed that^ too. I was trying to make sense of it. It'd be super cool if they did at very least make it a smaller street, maybe a loading zone or move the bus/tour drop-off somewhere else. If they do move the entrance to Main, it'd make a lot of sense to do that actually.

Also, there's some construction going on at Memorial Park... looks like some plaza/paving and lighting changes.

Does anyone know what is going on at the northwest corner of Lyndale & St. Mary's, where the Husky station used to be? It looks like some foundation work is being done on a very small footprint.

flying saucer is ready for its firt moduals to go in as all the columbs are up and steel it will rest on i would imagin if they havent lifted the first in place this eve that tomarrow they will from what i could see from up on the watkins building as i worked today

I noticed that as well. When they closed Husky station, ranks etc were removed, maybe this is a soil testing follow up? I was hoping for a slim condo building.
