City doing the work - instead of private sector. So no 3rd party oversight = higher costs, no schedule likely as no real plan - and budget in flex. A recipe for disaster.

Any word on when they're going to finish this? I'd guess end of this year, but someone who knows better might have a better idea.

EDMONTON - Fort Edmonton Park will be completely shuttered for at least a year when the city starts work on refurbishing its aging utilities.

But the shutdown’s exact length is unclear, which worries the Fort Edmonton Foundation, a volunteer fundraising group.

“Officially, the Fort Edmonton Foundation is not in favour of an overall closure of the park and we’d still like to see an alternative,” said foundation president Lyndon Decore.

“We believe it would be harmful to both the park and the people of Edmonton to have an all-out closure.”

The work is slated to start in 2018 and Decore said he has been told it could take two full years to complete...

Oh, that doesn't appear like it will turn into a boondoggle at all....

Can we contract Katz group to do it?

I'm not sure if I'm joking when I say that.

As much as Edmonton has advanced privately and Municipally in the last 10 years. There has to be more over site and regulation within The City Of Edmonton Departments IMO. We are at a new higher level and need/require more professionalism and execution of our City resources.

Didn't the price seem odd to anyone? 70 mil for utility upgrades? Was that number misplaced in the article? Surely it can't be just for Fort Edmonton....

Hey my tin foil cap has not been on for awhile. But a little bit of investigative journalism is required.

Fox is a beast when you're standing right in front off it on 104. If fox two is just as wide, that's gonna be a big giant wall of condos... Ultima looks so slender in comparison. Hopefully once the podiums on fox are done, you won't notice the beastly condos as much. Parking lot on other side of Japanese village/parkade is dying to be a condo too.

Fox 2 is identical except taller and slight colour change on top.

When you're on the street in front of the Icon's it doesn't feel overwhelming unless you crank your neck.

Anyone know what's slated for the NE corner of 124 st and 109A ave? They started demo on the 1 storey commercial building that's there.
